How's that working out? Look to the scoreboard. David Johnson is not a man wrecking crew.

DJ is literally the only playmaker we have and Leftwich said we have to get him the ball. So he did. There is no, none, zilch, zero talent on the field besides DJ right now. Leftwich knows that and is getting him the ball. Like I said I agree with you that Leftwich was unqualified, but so is McCoy and this is still his offense with Leftwich calling the plays now.

It was a very low bar but he ended up barely beating, at home, the one other team his predecessor beat on the road.

It proves approximately nothing because other teams have no film on him or anything to go by but this will be celebrated until the next beat down by a competent team.

I'll have to see the stats later but I thought we did a better job involving DJ, and it seemed like Josh was in the shotgun more often which is something I've been wanting to see.

We still can't pass block and nobody seems to be able to get open downfield but at least SOME of what we did looked better to me. Low bar of course Niners are terrible.

The Niners record is terrible, their team may not be as bad as people make it out to be. They went into GB and almost beat them and have played tough physical football and have the 2nd ranked rushing offense in the league. Just sayin they aren’t total garbage...

Well I'm biased because I live so close to them but yeah their big issue has been turnovers and that's often the case in the NFL. Beathard has talent, he can move, he can throw the ball but he is just too loose with the ball and at times can be very inaccurate. they run the ball really well, a Shanahan thing I guess. If they had Garappolo still I think they'd look much better than 1-7.

Living where I live, I love beating them.

It was nice to see some offense today and fun to watch Larry and DJ be utilized.

The oline still stinks on ice and Rosen is getting a lesson in hard knocks. Hope he doesn't pick up any bad habits but it seems he is weathering the storm well which will make him better in the long run.

Of all of the rookie QBs, he was the most pro ready (even at 21) because he has no fear. He plays on instinct so any bad habits are already has are probably just who he is. Loved seeing him scramble and dive for the first down. It is going to take a lot more than a Mike McCoy to stunt his growth

Hey it wasn't like the offense ran like a Mercedes Benz but it was a helluva lot better than the model T we've watched over the first 7 weeks. Fitz and DJ both got 100 yards. I think our new OC did a heck of a job for his first week. The most encouraging thing is the offense got better as the game went on.

More worried about the oline getting him killed and he stops keeping his eyes looking down field or starts throwing off his back foot.

The playcalling has been exponentially better the last two weeks. We still lack scoring threats on offense, and lack an entire offensive line.

It's almost the same as BA offense minus some receivers if it takes season to transition out of last place offensively we have the wrong dude
BA's offense was far less predictable and far more explosive. Plus - Cardinal receivers under BA were far more productive.

What's far less clear is crispness of execution comparing BA, McCoy and Byron. (i.e. were Cards tipping off offensive plays?)

What I do like about Leftwich is his more frequent use of the screen (although its poor execution on one occasion may have cost us a win vs KC).

I think Lefty will be much better next year. He still has to use McCoys playbook & terminology. He won't be able to do his own thing until next year imo. His play calling is night & day different. He still has room for improvement but that will come with more experience.
