All of those trades, except for the Portland one, are terrible for Phoenix, returning players with very little long-term potential. Gortat's value is high enough that the Suns should be able to get a high-quality prospect in return, not just a guy who might eventually be starting-caliber on an average team.
I'd prefer a 3 team trade that sent Perkins back to Boston along with Marshall, Gortat to OKC and Bradley, Lamb and 3 unprotected 1sts to Phoenix (plus filler if needed).

I don't want 1st round picks if they're not good ones. The Suns don't need 12 low first round picks in the next 4 years.
If I was gonna trade Gortat I'd want a deal like they got for Nance.
I'd rather have 12 perfect picks also but future 1st round picks have value and I'd stockpile as many of them as I could if it were up to me. I'd still ask for better picks but two intriguing young players and 3 future unprotected 1's is a good deal for Gortat even if they were bottom of the round.

Do you remember that year the Celtics had the 22, 23 and 24th picks or something like that. They could be trade chips but its more likely at least some of them would get sold for cash.

Absolutely! Gortat may never be an all-star, but he is the best Center the Suns have ever had. To give him up for anything but a better Center would be a huge mistake, no matter what SG, SF or PF we would gain. I can't understand how anyone could think otherwise. If the Suns trade a legit big man without getting a legit big man in return or at least a very good prospect of a big man...this teams failure is complete.
If the Suns trade a legit big man without getting a legit big man in return or at least a very good prospect of a big man...this teams failure is complete. Considering this teams history of going through big men and struggling to find a legit one time and time again. I will take my chances finding a PG/SG/SF in the draft any day over a legit PF or Center.
But I don't see us trading Gortat....at least not yet. He's the best center the Suns have ever had in their franchise history. The FO knows they would have to feel the wrath from the fans if they were to trade him.
