Is the Safeway thing everywhere or just where you live? I've been looking and came to the conclusion nobody in NorCal doubles coupons, but we do have a Safeway near us that I could shop at if they were doing it this weekend.

Most stores in CA quit doubling years ago. I think this was a special deal for Easter shopping. Mad is right just call and ask.

Another shopping hint. I subscribe to the AZ Republic on Weds and Sundays just for the circulars and coupons. I save more than enough with the Sunday circular coupons to pay for the subscription and then it's all profit.

My mother was a genius at coupons and rebating. (Rebates are pretty much a thing of the past, though.) She didn't go overboard and hoard but she was very organized with a shoebox that was divided by product type. She put every penny she saved in a special bank account and saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars a year. It was impressive.

I can beat that on newspapers. i get it daily and Sunday, no Saturday. have for like 20 years now.

Back in 09 when I got laid off I decided to cancel and just read online. So I called and cancelled. And my paper kept coming, so I called again and they said ok, and it kept coming. So I called again and they insisted it is cancelled, you have no subscription. So I have been getting a free paper 6 days a week for almost 2 years now.

Working again I actually considered resubscribing but honestly I figured I'd probably get TWO papers a day then.

I still use coupons but yeah the concept of doubling seems outlawed here.

I guess I'll try Safeway.

MESA! :thud:
LOL!

I saved more than I spent today, according to my Albertson's receipt. Love when that happens. :)
Speaking of, did you know that during football season (or maybe year-round, I'm not sure), Albertson's gives you 10% off your total on Sundays if you are wearing a Cardinals' jersey?

But of course! And, it is only during football season.

My wife and I just started watching this show and to tell you the truth, some of these families leave one scratching their head. Like the woman who cleaned out the entire supply of mustard. I mean, do you really need 66 bottles of mustard? Sure it looks sexy buying nearly $2K in groceries and only paying $100 but sometimes these people go overboard. You want to buy 10 bottles of mustard, fine but 66? And as was said, now you screw anyone else who wants a bottle. But where I get confused is I don't know where these people shop but where I live, on sale items, there is usually a cap. For example, say Gatorade is on sale for $1. The limit is 4 per variety meaning you can buy a max of 4 per flavor. That's still a lot of Gatorade but you're not buying 300 bottles of it. Maybe 36 or so but not the entire stockpile. Secondly, a lot of these people shop at stores that double all coupons meaning if they have a $1 off coupon, the store takes an additional $1. Where I live, at best they'll double it to $1 meaning you'd only get max benefit from a 50 cent coupon. And at the supermarket we frequent(Shop-Rite) if you have, say, a $1.50 coupon and the item is $1, the register won't take the coupon but usually the cashier will just take the $1 off...which isn't right I might add because they'll get the full $1.50 from the manufacturer.

Now, as for some of the people I've seen on this show, several donate a lot of what they buy which is admirable. One guy donated to the military for care packages for soldiers overseas. Another woman to her church who gave stuff to the poor. I thought that was cool. And another family had like 7 kids so you can halfway see the reason for 20 boxes of cereal. I just want to do this one time to see if it can be done.

Just watched an episode of this. Want to talk about people who need help. These people realize things go bad right? Awful show.
