The New Orleans Saints have had an intriguing offseason of their own in 2025, and it gets even more interesting when you look at how many of their former players have moved to new teams or are looking to recently. This list continues to grow as well, with one of their fan-favorite quarterbacks heading to the NFC East.
In a report by Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, he broke the news that Jameis Winston is finalizing a two-year deal worth up to $16 million with the New York Giants. The full deal is two years and $8 million, with incentives that can lead to it being worth $16 million, which seems fair as many of them are likely playing time based.
Winston spent the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns and would start seven of the 12 games that he played in. In that span, he accrued 2,121 passing yards, 13 touchdowns to 12 interceptions, a 61.1% completion rate, and a career-long 89-yard touchdown pass.
This is pretty on-brand for Winston as he is successful statistically, but also similar to what you would call a three-true outcomes player in baseball. Instead of a home run, strikeout, or walk, Winston either throws a touchdown, incompletion, or interception. This has been the value he brings to the teams he plays for, but also his downfall.
Ultimately it is a good spot for him to land with the Giants however, as he can get some playing time, and if the team decides to draft a quarterback, he can be a good bridge option for solid money. Overall a reasonable signing for the fan-favorite former Saints quarterback.
