Now that we have cap space, and we have afew picks to attract a trade.

Suns trade:

White
Jacobsen
Eisley
2 first round draft picks

Detroit trades:

Ben Wallace

I dont think Detroit would trade Big Ben but would this work under the cap?

I can help but dream about Ben Wallace & Amare in the front court together...

Wallace and Amare would be a catastrophe together.

Undersized, offensive liability - Not what I want from Amare's frontcourt partner.

Okur would be better if we talk about Piston players.

This team lacks tuffness badly. Ben would bring that to this team.

You guys are kidding right? The Phoenix Suns give up their three worst contracts and get the defensive player of the year for a couple of first-round draft picks, and that's a bad trade? The two of you would get laughed right off of the Detroit Pistons message board.

I second this sentiment absolutely! The problem is that we don't really have any bad contract left to make it a remotely balanced trade.

Wait! We still have Marion's contract that we could dump in exchange for Billups and Hamilton in addition.

Whew, I thought I was the only one who saw this as a steal for the Suns.

So trade him. They would be plenty of teams willing to give up a hell of a lot more than bad contracts and a couple of first-round draft picks for him.

Indeed. Regardless of whether or not Wallace would be a god fit here, that trade proposal is the furthest thing from a possibility Ive seen in a long time, in my opinion.

Especially since Ben Wallace is pretty close to untouchable in Detroit. They are in love with him there. He is the consumate team player. Just wants to get rebounds and play defense. I don't see why that wouldn't be a perfect fit on any team.

How can you over-rate picks due to their unprodictability versus Ben Wallace who has proven to be one of the best defensive men around (he's starting to score more as well).

So you think the Pistons would take two draft picks and crap contracts for an All Star who is the two time Defnesive Player of the Year?

They probably wouldn't do it either. To Detroit, Ben Wallace is worth much more, but to us he isn't. There are varying degrees on both sides.

Point taken. Im looking at it strictly as a third party. And only assuming that the offer was actually on the table. I think you;re lookingat it from a standpoint of would the SUns even make that offer in the first place. That nmight be where the confusion is coming from.

I dont think Wallace would be a good fit in Phoeinx, so I dont think the offer would be made, but assuming it was, I would expect Dumars to laugh his ass off, call everyone around the leauge, and have a yuck over what the Suns offered for that teams most popular player.

Yeah, you're right there. If Detroit even entertained the thought of something like that, perhaps I was too hasty in condemning it--but as you might know, I've never been a fan of fantasy trades. And with losing two firsts and Casey, we'd be getting rid of a lot of our future. We're likely getting rid of one of those firsts anyway, but if Kobe Bryant (snicker) were not going to be signed here, I'd be really nervous to have Joe Johnson without a backup. (And Leandro for that matter with no Eisley)

I agree!!

Would any of you trade Amare for Wallace??

I would not!
Amare was the 9th pick in the draft, and the Knicks pick may be that good or better if we got lucky in the lottery draw.

Last year we got Zarko with the 17th pick, then we got Barbosa with the 28th pick. NOT BAD RIGHT!
They may not be as good as Wallace right now, but give them a year or two and then take a look.

I really do not want Kobe but if you could trade some players and all your picks to get him I would be in favor of that...........but Kobe is top 5 in the league, Wallace is not!

I personally do not want them to trade either their pick or the Knicks pick this year, (Cleveland will be next year maybe).
The suns have a great history in drafting and this year they have a chance to get two players in the top 13, this could be a great draft year for the suns.

We are a young team and sometime we will want to sign a veteran player and hopefully an excellent one now that we are under the cap.

I do not think the suns are in a hurry to sign someone this year unless a super deal somehow came up. They will wait a year and play the young players, then try to sign someone when White comes off the cap. It will be easier to get rid of Eisleys contract in another year also.

Last years top 13.

--------------------------------------
1.Cleveland Lebron James 6-8 245 PG/SG Akron OH HSSr.
2.Detroit Darko Milicic 7-1 253 PF (Serbia-Montenegro)
3.Denver Carmelo Anthony 6-7 234 SF Syracuse Fr.
4.Toronto Chris Bosh 6-11 210 PF Georgia Tech Fr.
5.Miami Dwyane Wade 6-5 212 SG Marquette Jr.
6.LA Clippers Chris Kaman 7-0 255 C Central Michigan Jr.
7.Chicago Kirk Hinrich 6-4 190 PG Kansas Sr.
8.Milwaukee TJ Ford 6-0 162 PG Texas So.
9.New York Mike Sweetney 6-8 260 PF Georgetown Jr.
10.Washington Jarvis Hayes 6-7 220 SG/SF Georgia Jr.
11.Golden State Mickaël Pietrus 6-6 200 SG/SF (France)
12.Seattle Nick Collison 6-10 255 PF Kansas Sr.
13.Memphis Marcus Banks 6-1 200 PG UNLV Sr.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of those guys would be good to have........

Just my two cents........ 8)

Well, first of all this trade can't even come close to working under the CBA Jahidi White, Howard Eiseley, and Casey Jacobsen make a combined $12 million while Jahidi White makes $5.5 million.

I think one of the problems here is that apart from not being possible this trade also doesn't specify which first-round draft picks we're talking about.

Now imagine this trade was possible under the current CBA. The Phoenix Suns would be clearing $6.5 million + what they would have paid their draft picks. If you want draft picks back I guarantee you could get a great draft pick and probably a very good shooting guard for Ben Wallace.

If Amare ever reaches 80% of Ben Wallace's defense and rebounding prowess, I'd be really happy already. If we sign Kobe, I'd even propose a Amare+Marion+Eisley for Ben, Billups, Okur(sign&trade) trade. With Kobe, Billups, JJ/Zarko, Ben, Okur/Jake, and maybe plus signing a vet like Jim Jackson or Marshall at SF, we'd be immediate title contender, for the next 5 years! Amare maybe dominating after that time frame for 10 years or so, but it's not a sure thing anyway.

Actually, JJ would be more like Pippen than Marion ever could. So, Kobe/JJ/Ben could be the equal if not even a better version of the MJ/Pippen/Rodman combination. And we'd have much better talent supporting cast in Billups, Borbosa, Zarko, White, Jake.

Think a bit more about it, a Kobe/BenW/JJ/Barbosa lineup would be the nightmare for any opponent's offense!

Ben Wallace is a very good player but is not worth 2 number 1 picks. With all these trade proposals on the board, we can tream of a fantasy team because the real team stinks

This does look like a deal where both teams lose. :D

The Pistons have a real shot at winning the Eastern Converence. They would not contend in the West, but in a short series anything can happen.

Take away Ben Wallace and they don't make the playoffs.

Right now they have coach who hates rookies. They play Darko 30 seconds a game. Does anyone imagine that Larry Brown would give up his best defensive players for two draft picks that might not even play before he changes teams?

Assuming the deal were to be done, the Suns would be giving up two draft picks for Wallace and some cap space. If one of the picks was the Cleveland pick, then maybe it works. But two lottery picks? That's really steep.

BTW, I think Wallace would fit in just fine. I don't usually go for guys with minimal offensive skills, but this guy wins games without scoring a point.
