I totally agree with these, and I'll add:

Serendipity
A Few Good Men
Usual Suspects
Silence of the Lambs
Hitch
Mr & Mrs Smith
Shattered
Dead Again
Sweet Home Alabama
The Notebook
13 Going on 30

Okay, that's good for now... :)

I lived there for many years in Redondo Beach and my sister still lives there, so I know what you are talking about.

Yeah, it's mostly from experience, I've golfed on the golf course in that movie, been to the Derby and the Dresden, and I have at least driven past the diner in the movie (which I believe isn't a diner anymore and on Melrose, but I can't remember exactly).

I lived there for three years. I was amazed one morning when the smog had cleared a little bit so I could see how close I lived to the Hollywood Hills. All of the sudden I looked up and the hills were there.

LOL

I went to Irvine 3 times on business before I realized there are mountains to the east.

Mike - I don't think Chap said what he said to be meant as a slam or anything, like "you don't get this movie" - it's just that without living the life of these guys - it's REALLY hard to seriously appreciate the in-jokes lined up throughout the flick. Those of us who live and toil away in this wretched city and work in this wretched industry I think can appreciate this movie on a different level than others - just as movie about your line of work could likely be even more appreciated by yourself.

Take for example - Office Space - a movie I thought was a classic before I ever got out into the working world. Then, once I started working the movie raised to whole new levels of hilarity... "PC load letter? WTF does that mean!?"

That's all he meant I think.
