Least favorite - Every Rose Has Its Thorn by Poison. Or anything by Warrant.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Poison passed over Slash from GNR for C.C. when they were looking for a guitar player.

Ahh... now you have that part of the song "stuck in my mind".... :D

I'll add some more:

1) "Don't Close Your Eyes" - Kix
2) "Eyes Without A Face" - Billy Idol
3) "Amanda" - Boston
4) "Sister Christian" - Night Ranger
5) "Still Loving You" - Scorpions

I too am unsure of what a "power ballad" is but I'll throw some out.

Nazareth "Love Hurts"
Van Halen "Why Can't This be Love
Alice Cooper "I'm Eighteen"
Skid Row "18 and Life"
REO "Keep on Loving You"
Great White "Save Your Love"

What?
Steel Heart- I'll never let you go

That's the best of the power ballads hands down.

Estranged- GNR
Fly to the Angels-Slaughter.
Nobody's fool- Cinderella

My ex girlfriend used to put the slaughter one on replay and play it over and over on my CD player.

Mark Slaughter's voice makes me want to throw myself in front of a bus.

Good ones KLL...I like the Night Ranger's "Sister Christian" pick.

Obviously for me it's Van Halen - "When It's Love"
I gotta give it up to Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home"
Skid Row's "I Remember You"
Poison's "Something to Believe In"
and Whitesnake's "Is This Love"

Hey, remember...Aerosmith's - "Angel"
or Bon Jovi's "Never Say Goodbye"
Would GnR's "Patience" be considered a "power balled"?
Also I wonder if Def Leppard's "Hysteria" ballad should be considered?

I always liked Cheap Trick's "The Flame" too.

I kinda think Journey and REO prolly had the most (although those bands aren't really associated with the "power/hair band" out of the 80's group).

Lots of good ones out there. Scorpions, Great White, even Poison...etc.

Favorite Rock Ballads

I did a search and didn't see this one come up. I'm at work (shocker) and listening to "I Remember You" by Skid Row. I think that song totally rocks.

In any case, what are some of your favorite Rock Ballads?

True power ballads that I really like...

Wasted Time - Skid Row (Bach's screams in this song are some of the best in rock, ever IMO)
Another Day - Dream Theater
Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
One Child - Savatage
All That I Bleed - Savatage (this song later influenced a band that took the title as their name)
Forever - Stratovarius (seriously, the most beautiful song ever recorded IMO. When they play this song live to their 10,000 people a night concerts in Europe, the crowd singing drowns out the band. iTune it, you won't be sorry.)

Other borderline songs, not necessarily power ballads:

Cemetary Gates - Pantera
This Love - Pantera
One - Metallica
Unforgiven - Metallica
Fade to Black - Metallica
Sanitarium - Metallica
Closer to the Heart - Rush
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
A Tout Le Monde - Megadeth
Hollow Years - Dream Theater
The Edge of Forever - Symphony X

Whe I was in grade school, at dances they used to play Skynard's "Freebird" as a slow song. I always felt like a clown when the song sped up at the end as me and this girl are still slow dancing. :bang:

Slash should be hitting his knees in thanks every day for the rest of his life.

I'll say:

Still Loving You - Scorpions
Diamonds and Rust - Judas Priest

They get my vote because they were recorded well before the time when it was mandatory for every metal album to have at least one ballad on it so girls would buy it.

Greatest ballad never sung:

AC/DC.

They never recorded a ballad! :clapping:

I was watching VH 1 another day and they interviews Axl Rose, and he said that they told Slash to piss off a few times, but he kept showing up for their gigs, and eventually they let him join.
