Not a huge fan of these shows but Terriers was amazing.

Magnum PI, Simon and Simon, Moonlighting, Vega$, and The Rockford Files are just a few of the great older private detective shows.

Oh come on, Veronica Mars could sleuth circles around that guy and she's a lot cuter too. Unfortunately, the show only went 3 seasons because too many people were busy watching Matt Houston reruns.
