Lord.... this will prove how "dated" I am when it comes to video games.... I mean... I owned 50+ Nintendo games and 50+ Sega Genesis games (also had a Turbo Graphics 16 until they confirmed it was merely an 8-bit system) and then had an Atari (and owned all the vintange classics..plus some).. but once I reached the age of 15...I was like... Im too old for this.. whatever reason I just outgrew video games.... although..Ive thought about purchasing an XBOX or the other popular systems of the day.....

Anyways.... if I had to do a top-10... many of these have perhaps been long since forgotten.....

1) Metal Gear
2) Golgo 13
3) Double Dribble
4) Blades of Steel
5) Baseball Stars
6) Mike Tyson's Punchout
7) Renegade
8) T&C Surf Design
9) Paperboy
10) Desert Strike

Lord... do I feel old listing these.. haha... I should get a Playstation 3 soon because all of a sudden I have the urgency to begin gaming again.....

Is Golgo 13 the one where you make out with the chick after you beat it?

Geeze KLL, I owned every game on that list. You should check out the new Metal Gear games, they a really well done. I loved being able to build teams in Baseball Stars....T&C Surf Designs was cool too, I liked that you could surf as the monkey

You got it right about Golgo 13... I loved that game.. in fact.. I think you "scored with the chick" after beating the 1st level.. Unfortunately.. I dont think I ever advanced past the 2nd level.. or perhaps something more happened.. haha.... :D

I dont know what it was... when I was 13..I stopped collecting baseball cards... then when I turned 14-15..I immediately could no longer enjoy playing video games thinking I was too old......

But lord... back then...I was obsessed.. would subsribe to Nintendo Power, would watch that video game show I think was on Saturdays on NBC in which they would profile newer releases and provide people secret hints/codes.. would go to all the stores and force my parents to purchase me a new game every single weekend.... Then... what happens... I allow both my sisters to take my Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems.. I believe them and all the games that I had amassed got stolen or just misplaced... Just posting under this thread brings back several memories that I actually havent thought of in years... Thanks HeavyB for posting this....

Anyways..... I just hated when several games didnt have that save option, so if you advanced far, but had to go to bed..you couldnt just continue later on, but would have to start all over again.. Especially despised when someone would pull the plug while youre so close finally getting to the elusive ending of the game... glad thats changed for the gaming enthusiasts.....

I could go on and on...but will save that for another post...... Just dont know why back then I thought it was too immature to play video games... Perhaps it was because I got addicted from the age of 3-4 when my dad got an Atari 400 and.. I even played Pong.. hell.. I even remember video arcades... Okay.. ...I'll stop for now...

Cardinals.Ken is the Rodney Dangerfield of ASFN. :D

It wasnt necessarily ranking your favorite top-10... in fact... I merged about 3 separate threads to form that colossal one.. haha...

Just dont want to drown this new thread into that other one.... anyways... now I must go out and purchase a Playstation 3 or XBOX...... I feel like a kid again...;)

Anyone remember super Dodge ball for Nintendo? That game was great. Remember when you got the other players out, they would turn into little ghosts and fly up on the screen?

I like a lot of the classics like exited bike, Ice hockey (With the option of choosing fat, medium or skinny guys). I always thought that was pretty funny to stack your team with huge fat guys and gun over the skinny ones.

I got my first NES in 1985 and some of the first NES games were friggen stupid, but I still played them because it was like a whole new world.

Remember Rush'n Attack?

Did anyone have Joe Montana Sports talk Football II on Sega? It was the first play by play game. The announcer only had like 50 lines and they had to piece it all together.

I also had Joe Montana Football, the game was so easy it wasn't even fun. I could line up and sack the QB in a matter of seconds on each play, block the punt then run one of the 8 plays they allowed you and score a TD.

I'll do this a little differently:

1. Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)
Also re-released as Ninja Gaiden Black
IMO the best action game ever made. Some find it too hard, but I love the difficulty.

2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox, PC)
A better SW storyline than any of the movies IMO. Revan is Anakin Skywalker, only more badassed and without the whinyness.

3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, The Sith Lords (Xbox, PC)
Almost as good as KOTOR 1, I can't wait for KOTOR III.

4. Star Wars: Jedi Knight II, Jedi Outcast (Xbox, PC)
Best Jedi action game ever. The swordfighting and multiplayer in this is top notch and I still play the game all the time, even though it came out 4 years ago.

5. ESPN NFL 2K5 (Xbox)
Best football game ever. EA was so afraid of SEGA here, they bought out the NFL to stop this game. Word is SEGA is still working on a next gen version of this game w/o the NFL license. Of course, the game suffers from realism here, as Julian Peterson and Marcel Shipp are both seen playing, & Leonard Davis is actually blocking, but hey at least it looks like the Cardinal runner is about to be tackled behind the line :)

6. Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES)
Best action/platformer of all time, set the stage for all to come after it. The epitome of the sidescroller. Tons of secrets, hundreds of levels, years of fun.

7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)
Back in 1990, playing this game with 3 other friends as a 12 year old was so much fun.

8. Soul Calibur II (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube)
My favorite fighting game. Very deep, with multiple unlockable weapons for each character. This is the only all-weapons fighting game that actually doesn't suck.

9. Crimson Skies (Xbox)
Play this on Xbox live. :D

10. The Front Page Sports:Football Pro series
Pushed EA into making a franchise mode for Madden back in the mid-90s. It was the first sports game to really go in-depth into college drafts, and with it's powerful play editor, you could actually install your own offense and defense, and make your team play exactly how you wanted them. Still, to this day, no other game has done this as well as FPS Football Pro from Sierra/Dynamix.

The Wing Commander,

Oh my gosh, my favorite game in 5th grade was Wing Commander: Privateer on the computer.

Wow that brings back SO many memories!

Also, to add to the list, I played Ken Griffey Jr's baseball game a lot. I think it was in 96, for the SNES

edit: wow, i found a website where I can d/l and play it! http://priv.solsector.net/files.htm wow this is so cool!

Yeah.. I owned both copies.... its just again very overwhelming to think how revolutionary this game was from during that time.... However, my favorite football game back then was Tecmo Bowl....

Boisesuns... a good call on Ice Hockey! I would play that game nonstop for hours.. it was hysterical... but I completely tossed that game aside once I got my hands on Blades of Steel.......

I was obsessed with all the sports games obviously.. anyone remember Bases Loaded series for NES? I loved that game for when a hitter would get hit-by-the-pitch and suddenly a brawl would break loose...... I remember thinking how it took forever for that game to be released....

I was very disappointed in Tony LaRussa Baseball came out.. that was supposed to be the bomb..... Also.. RBI Baseball and Hard Ball werent too bad.......
