20 times is excessive even if he had a 9 pointed at them.

Not necessarily so.. We have had shootings where subjects with guns are engaging the police and have been shot more then 20 times and are still able to engage and be a threat.. There are instances where it could be completely justified if a weapon is in hand and are still being hostile. But In this instance 20 absolutely seems excessive.

I agree I taught my wife if your going to shoot someone once you might as well empty the clip. Shane you know as well as I do that people can survive a great deal when their hopped up on whatever. Now if they reloaded and kept shooting that would be excessive IMO.

I haven’t seen the video but if what you are describing is accurate and it was dark and he advanced then a shooting could be totally justified. But still 20 times? Mehhhh
pretty sure there were about six cops there who opened fire

There were only two officers. The drone infrared showed that. Also, the infrared shows him raise his hands right before the officer says, "gun" and unloads. You then see the cell phone fall. He falls to the ground and they unload again. Guy did not deserve to die.

Blackballing Kaepernick and Eric Reid from the NFL is definitely a far-left NFL stance...

U don't no what u are talking about. The fact that the Players Association has accepted money from BLM has been documented. Just do some research and u might discover things are not as u think or want to think.

How much money have NFL owners donated to Donald Trump’s campaign?

Spare me the left/right BS with regards to football. If you can’t put aside your political biases to see that matters aren’t always black-and-white, then you are an example of why this country is so F’d up right now.

Don't worry guys, Bennett's sister has some grainy footage that absolutely skips the part where they run on to the field (you know, the actual point where Bennett allegedly did it). So definitive, that video.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I think most ppl, including me, think this guy's a douche so we immediately think he's guilty.

Check out the Steven A Smith take. Wow.

Monday on ESPN’s “First Take,” co-host Stephen A. Smith reacted to Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett’s indictment on a felony count of injury to the elderly. He defended the former Seattle Seahawk because of how a black man of his size would look in the court of public opinion for shoving a 66-year-old paraplegic.

Smith started off his comments by saying if Bennett is guilty then he should be dealt with accordingly and pay the price, but since there is no video evidence and since Bennett has been nominated and given awards for his philanthropy, the ESPN host called for more evidence.

Partial transcript as follows:

advertisement

Listen, this is the same Michael Bennett that was a nominee for the Walter Payton man of the year award, this is the same Michael Bennett, who along with his brother, was honored at the B.E.T. Awards for their philanthropy and sympathies for what ails our community. This is the same Michael Bennett, put this camera on me, please. It is very important I say this. He is 6’4″, 274 pounds. That’s what he is listed as; a defensive lineman in the National Football League and do we have a depiction of him getting into a fight with somebody? No. You trying to tell me this man sat up there and just shoved aside and put his hands on and disregarded a 66-year-old paraplegic?

Now, tell me what possible chance does he have to look good or to come across as innocent in all of this? You’ve got video, that’s an entirely different ball game. But, you are trying to tell me with no video whatsoever, you are just going to paint a picture as this humongous black man on a football field for the Super Bowl 14 months ago, 14 months and you are going to bring it to the equation? A 66-year-old paraplegic and what you want us to do, by bringing that up, what are we supposed to believe about this man? It sounds despicable. It sounds disgusting. Do you know what somebody who would do that to a paraplegic deserves?

Smith went on to say that if any of the information out there is wrong, then what is happening to Bennett is “beyond cruel” and why black men talk about how they are always depicted in a bad light.

“Is there anything about him that says to you that he would do something like that?” Smith asked. “And then we sit up here as black men and take this there. If we sit up here as black men and talk about the willingness to depict us in that kind of fashion, then we are going racial. But that cannot happen.”

Pretty good on this, mainly in the reactions to an incident thai is over a year old that no one really has any knowledge of, but everyone had their opinions ready to go

I think there is a lot of shoehorning narrative into circumstance in so much these days as nuance is treated like a disease

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...-arrest-warrant-shows-that-facts-dont-matter/

Boykin on the other hand..........

Depends on whose op/ed one wants to believe.

A nationally syndicated sports radio host or a local Seattle beat writer?

BTW Boykin??????????? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...vestigating-allegations-of-domestic-violence/

IIRC Boykin was suspended or his Bowl Game . He has a history, but we can't jump to conclusions.

TCU QB Trevone Boykin charged with striking officer, suspended for bowl game

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested and charged with a felony early Thursday morning in San Antonio after fighting at a bar and then allegedly striking a bicycle patrol officer.

You didn't actually read the article I posted, did you Wally? Or even skim it.

It isn't about the Bennett situation itself or even offer an opinion on it.

Instead, it is looking at strong opinions on both sides coming from national commentators despite there being absolutely no real evidence presented by anyone.

Strong opinions with no actual detail or evidence given.

It's a decent read.

BTW, I'm much more willing to jump to conclusions with Boykin than Bennett and it had zero to do with him mixing it up 1st a bar in college or being a drunk weed holding car passenger.

The details from the scene of the assault are known and pretty nasty, confirmed victim statement, obviously severe victim injuries, fled the hospital when questioned on the situation.

All pretty awful stuff.

I read it before this response from you. My comments were not directed at anything you said. Just at the state of "journalism" and the tweetesphere.

I am led to believe that there is testimony from witnesses that is deemed credible enough or in the least substantial enough to go to a grand jury and charges levied. Lack of video is probably not the determining factor.
