You never seemed like someone who would give extra credence to a national syndicated writer because they are nationally syndicated.

Right now you have a prosecutors office yelling and screaming that he is the worse person ever.

His defense team says he never touched her and they have witnesses to this that weren't presented to the grand jury.

We know there is no video evidence.

That is all we know.

Yet depending on what either your pre-existing feelings are for the individual or how staked you are in the blue lives/black lives divide you can use the little knowledge above to string up Bennett and/or social justice organizations or use that same information to defend Bennett and string up potentially grand standing politicians and/or the police in whole

That was the dynamic the writer is jabbing at. Sure, he may be no George Will, but I think the concept of looking at the reactions on both sides is an interesting viewpoint to discuss

I did not take either side. I am theorizing that the writer is a local (Seattle) and his career in Seattle depends on what side he might come down on. You seem to be going down the political trail and I gave that up a while back. I am out on this.

I read it before this response from you. My comments were not directed at anything you said. Just at the state of "journalism" and the tweetesphere.

I am led to believe that there is testimony from witnesses that is deemed credible enough or in the least substantial enough to go to a grand jury and charges levied. Lack of video is probably not the determining factor.

long before everyone carried a camcorder in their pockets...people were convicted based on eye witness testimony...."video or it didnt happen" is just a rallying cry for criminals

All the other nonsense in this thread aside, why am I the only one asking this question:

Why was a disabled senior citizen on a security detail especially in an area to prevent someone from entering the field of play? Something tells me that this woman wouldn't have been able to stop a toddler from running onto the field let alone a 350lb NFL defensive lineman. Not excusing Bennett for what he allegedly did but c'mon, this PC nonsense has to stop.

How much money have NFL owners donated to Donald Trump’s campaign?

Spare me the left/right BS with regards to football. If you can’t put aside your political biases to see that matters aren’t always black-and-white, then you are an example of why this country is so F’d up right now.
So what you're saying is that the players can interject politics into football but the fans aren't allowed? Do I have that right?

He didn't come down on a side though. Not even close.

You may also be surprised the side that would play to the vocal crowd and move ink in Seattle...... It isn't in line with what you linked to for screaming Stephen

Which again gets back to what his initial point was - people on either side have their own agenda and will use the lack of information and fill in gaps with their narrative to bolster their agenda.

What is unknown is no longer unknown - it's assumed to be in line with my thoughts because of my previously formulated view.

Sure you do, but people don't understand how completely hypocritical they sound when they try to do so.

Technically aren't ticket checkers part of a security detail? No one knows the specifics of this situation, but I know when I've gone to sporting events the last twenty years, a high proportion of takers are old and/or disabled.

I don't think they are there to stop them, but to be the first barrier, who then calls over actual security if something happens.

Right now I'm specifically thinking like when you enter a specific section, already inside the stadium.

She was at an entrance-way leading to the field. And this from the ESPN article on it:

Speaking at a news conference Friday, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Bennett allegedly told the people he had pushed, "You all must know who I am, and I can own this m-----f-----. I'm going down to the field, whether you like it or not."
If this is true, then he's a bigger a-hole than I thought.

Not saying anything about the man, but wanted to post a different perspective.

On Sept. 6, 2017, then-Seattle Seahawks player Michael Bennett penned a letter describing, in excruciating detail, how Las Vegas police officers physically assaulted him while investigating shots fired in the area of the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight. According to Bennett, officers ordered him to the ground, placed a gun to his head, threatened to blow it off, and jammed a knee into Bennett’s back. “Las Vegas police officers singled me out and pointed their guns at me for doing nothing more than simply being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he wrote. Bennett’s letter sparked another massive national conversation about racial profiling and police violence towards people of color.

Shortly thereafter, a Houston detective started investigating a seven-month-old incident purportedly involving Bennett. Police alleged that in February 2017, while trying to get onto the field at NRG Stadium to celebrate his brother’s Super Bowl win, Bennett shoved past two women, including a 66-year-old paraplegic woman in a wheelchair. According to the police, the women tried to stop Bennett from getting on the field, but he forced his way past them while shouting expletives, spraining the 66-year-old’s shoulder.

------------------------------------------------------

For one thing, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo held what critics considered an outrageous press conference on Friday, during which he called Bennett “morally corrupt” and “morally bankrupt.” The Texas Rules of Professional Responsibility require lawyers to refrain from public attacks on “the character” of a potential defendant — lest their statements poison the public perception and a jury pool — and they also require the DA, where “feasible,” to “make reasonable efforts to discourage [law enforcement] from making statements of that kind.” Either Ogg didn’t follow this rule, or Acevedo ignored her. Either way, critics say, the police chief should know better. Acevedo did not respond to multiple requests for comment from In Justice Today.

Acevedo also misrepresented the incident during his press conference, claiming that Bennett knocked the 66-year-old woman “on her butt.” That description seemed to surprise reporters. And it was false. Moments later, the detective on the case carefully walked back the claim, explaining that the woman sat in an 800-pound wheelchair that did not, in fact, fall or topple over. Bennett instead “pushed her back and kind of strained her shoulder,” the detective said.

Acevedo himself has also come under fire. In 2004, he was accused by a female co-worker with whom he allegedly had an affair of taking naked photos of her and then showing them to his co-workers. The woman sued, and the two settled out of court. (Acevedo has claimed this was a smear campaign.)

Your different perspective of him forgot one major factor. Bennett lied. Did you read the actual version of what really happened in Las Vegas? I am assuming not since you posted his version. When the real version came out backed by video Bennett and the media vanished. The rest you posted I have no idea and do not really care. Bennett is a turd and a proven liar.

Dude, what are you talking about? I posted an article specifically stating it was just a different perspective and I stated I was not saying anything about him one way or another. But thank for telling my what I did and didn't do. All I attempted to do was offer another point of view to the situation.

Not sure about what I quote was "Faux fact", but ok.
I was not referring to you or what you said or didn't say. I am referring to the style of "journalism" that has become rampant. Many readers of that article would take that slant as fact rather than as a possibility.
