Tempe, AZ – The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team currently has fewer than 3,000 season tickets available for the inaugural season at Cardinals Stadium.

The team recently completed the seat selection process for all existing season-ticket holders as well as for those who have placed deposits on new season tickets over the last several months.

This past weekend, the team sold approximately 1,500 new season tickets.

“Tremendous momentum has been building throughout the ticket relocation process, free agency, and now the draft,” said Ron Minegar, the team’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “If fans have been waiting to buy tickets the good news is that there are about 3,000 good seats left but we certainly would encourage them act soon.”

A limited number of individual game tickets will go on sale to the general public this summer. Specific details will be announced at a later date.

Fans interested in purchasing season tickets can call (602) 379-0102 or order on-line at www.azcardinals.com.

CARDINALS STADIUM: Recently recognized by BusinessWeek as one of the 10 most impressive sports structures in the world, Cardinals Stadium will not only feature a retractable roof but will also be the first in the United States to feature a fully retractable grass playing surface. In addition to hosting Cardinals games, the stadium will host Super Bowl XLII in February of 2008 (www.azsuperbowl.com). It will also be the annual site of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and will host the first-ever Bowl Championship Series title game in January of 2007. The stadium will have a seating capacity of approximately 63,000 with the ability to expand to 73,000 for mega-events.

Well this weekend created a 1500 ticket push per that article.

Nowhere near the 10,000 people expectedshould we get Leinart.

Depends on how many of the remaining seats are in club seats vs regular seats

If all 3,000 are in the club/suite section (unlikely), then its lifted already

Leinart was picked Saturday at lunchtime

I think 1,500 on basically one day's worth of sales is pretty good

I don't think anyone could realistically predict that 10k tickets during the weekend of the draft would happen. But, if you survey every ticket holder that purchased tickets since Saturday , it would be interesting to see if Leinart did have an impact on people buying or not.

I don't think selling 10k seats in a day and a half is realistic regardless.

Then....4500 is not a bad number. :D It would be 100% of what was available.

Maybe. That is why I said it would be good to do a survey to find out how much a player drafted makes a difference. I think it does to some degree but I think there are other things that make the difference.

The new stadium being premier. Which is why I hope that the Cards win this year. They are getting their chance with new fans. They come for the stadium and see a good, competive football team. The stadium will wear off eventually. But, winning never does.

Well -- with 3,000 seats left -- that is a season ticket base of 60,000 of 63,000 capacity

I am absolutely stunned. At the same time, I am so looking forward to a brand new atmosphere. One of the great things of a NFL game is that electric feeling coming from a huge crowd behind the home team.

The other nice thing is that all those opposing fans having to either: 1. not go (ideal), 2. Pay through the freaking nose to get in, and then be forced to sit in scattered sections

Man, can the season get here fast enough?

You can count me as four of the 1,500. I’ve been teetering back and forth for a while trying to decide if I wanted to buy or not. This draft put me over the edge and we bought four of them on Saturday. Can’t freak’n wait.

Cory Chavous on the NFL network raised a very interesting point:

When you walk out into a stadium that holds 73k, and there are 25K there, and a portion of them are rooting against you, its hard to get motivated.

How many home wins is a home field advantage worth a season?

To go from the worst situation last year (short of New Orleans) to what sounds like a pretty good one -- is that worth an extra win or two at home?

I think a true home crowd advantage could be the factor that gets the team over the hump in one or two close games.

Doubtful. If the Cards had half a brain they'd be reserving a good number of seats for single game sales. This way people who cant afford season tickets can go to games.

The way they come up w/ these numbers is always deceiving and weird. I'd bet we've sold closer to 50K season tickets (which is still really good for the Cards)

Do the other teams do it this way?

From the business standpoint, why wouldn't they lock in the revenue while they can?

Completely disagree. They should leave no more than 2500 tickets for single game purchase. That way you have a less influx of opposing teams fans. Plus those who cant afford can watch on TV!

This was my question. So teams don't try and sell out every seat in the stadium for the entire year? They cap season tickets so there are a certain number of seats available on an individual game basis?

Anyone know the reason for this? Is it so they can make more on a per-game basis for the individual game tickets?

Just curious how the system works, since this has never been an issue for the Cardinals before. :)
