I bought three single-game tickets off of StubHub.com over the weekend for the Steelers preseason game.

I realize that I probably overpaid, but I don't really care...I have GOT to be at the first game in that place!

(first row, Cardinals' side, Ring of Honor!)

I think if the Cards could sell every seat as a season ticket they would --

you get 10 games worth of revenue before the season even begins and dont have to worry about if you will sell the last 2,000 tickets to the Detroit game (as an example)

Someone just told me that they completely sold out their entire season tickets. Can anyone confirm this?

Amazing, if true.

I think 3,000 left is 3,000 left -- club, ring, loge, whatever.

I know the Titans, who have sold out every game since the new Stadium in Nashville opened, and has a waiting list for season tickets, still reserves several thousands single game tickets for each game. They want to give everyone a chance to attend games, not just those with the time/commitment to but season tickets.

This was my question. So teams don't try and sell out every seat in the stadium for the entire year? They cap season tickets so there are a certain number of seats available on an individual game basis?

Anyone know the reason for this? Is it so they can make more on a per-game basis for the individual game tickets?

Just curious how the system works, since this has never been an issue for the Cardinals before. :)

Of course teams sell out of every game if they could. This is why there is a 10 year wait to get SEASON tickets for the Packers for example. I do not think that they sell single tickets at all actually.

The NFL requires some seats [not sure of the algorithim] set aside for things like fans of opposing teams.

Other than these required blocks, I expect they will try to sell every last seat as a season ticket

If the Cards had half a brain they'd be reserving a good number of seats for single game sales. This way people who cant afford season tickets can go to games.
Yeah, if they had half a brain is right, because your statement makes absolutely no sense.

The Cardinals, like every other professional sports franchise, will optimize profits by selling as many season tickets as they can. Money in the bank verses hoped for sales, which is the smart choice?

As for people who can't afford (or by choice don't want) season tickets that's who the brokers/scalpers cater to.

Article states that some individual game tickets will be on sale. I'm guess they either: 1. Add some of the additional seating beyond the 63,000 or 2. Aren't counting the Club seats and those will be sold to individual opposing team fans as individual game tickets (priced at $100, $250, and $350).

As far as the arguement above about not affording tickets -- no way. Cards will pre-sell every seat possible. In an ideal world, there are no individual seats for sale, demand increased, and then they can raised ticket prices!!

If I end up in Phoenix this year, I plan on buying season tickets. ASU Law School needs to hurry up and accept my fiancee so I can buy some before they run out!

Here's my assumption:

Individual game ticket sales will likely comprise of those "few" seating sections left unsold and the in-fill seats (single seats bracketed by season ticket holders). For exampe: Row 1 - A season ticket buyer takes seats 1-4, another season ticket purchaser takes seats 6-7; leaving seat 5 unsold and available for single game ticket purchase.

I dont think the ticket agents were allowing leaving single seats in between, but your thinking is probably on for 2 and 3 seat groups.

Selling out every single seat to season ticket holders is just bad business. It alienated lower and middle class fans. Most pro sports organizations set aside a few thousand seats for individual game sales. Do you want your sporting event to be just some event to be seen at, with rich folks who don't care owning every ticket? No. You want a nice variety of fans there.

Im nearly positive the Cards will reserve a certain number of seats for individual game sales.

My understanding [from a little checking] is that they may be intending to reserve some seats for single ticket purchase.

Middle class fans can definitely afford these season tickets. Lower class can watch on TV.

Well thats a great attitude to have. Luckily the Cards probably won't take the same attitude.

Look if you sell out all the seats in a venue for 2-3 years you alienate your fan base. People who maybe recently moved to the area, couldnt afford season tickets initial or were just too slow, now can't get into a game with out scalping or buying tickets at hugely inflated prices.

You can always get into a game if you want. I very much doubt that people being able to sit in the comfort of their home watching the CArds is going to alienate anyone.

Do you think other teams like the Pack whom Im pretty sure has no single game tickets for sale dont get the support and alienate their fans.

Personally, I hope they're all sold out.
Where were these poor souls who couldn't get tickets for the last 18 years? But NOW it's an issue?? Tough crap.
