Tonight vs Sacramento

Gortat, Morris and O'Neal all doing a great job on the boards but this is a Kings team that's coming off a back to back from playing the big scary Lakers yesterday.

Morris also scoring well, Beasley having a nice game while Brown is chucking too much.

Gortat with 3 pts....boy they weren't kidding when they said his production would go way down without Nash!

Jared Dudley the MVP of the game so far with 25 pts on 9-12 shooting with 4-6 from 3pt.

I think its clear that Dudley has secured the starting SG spot from Brown but I wish Morris would start over Scola to give the bench a vet to slow the game down and make it a little easier for the 2nd unit.

Game isn't televised btw so all that ^^ is based off the box score and play by play.

Next game tomorrow at Golden State. Then game on Friday vs Denver televised on ESPN.

Scola will be the most underrated acquisition in the entire NBA.

Wow we have a lot of chuckers on this team. Watched the game last night a little and sometimes the pg never touched the ball. The quality wasn't great but it looked like the second unit is terrible.

Beasley leading the Suns with 18 points in the first half scoring inside and outside and his 5 rebounds also lead the Suns, who are being outrebounded 28-18. Dragic is second in scoring and has 4 assists. The Suns lead by 5.

The Suns defense is a lot more mobile this year.

Every star ball hogs like that. The question is, can he consistently play up to that level.

Steve

My biggest concern with Beasley is his inability to get to the line. He didn't attempt a single FT tonight(granted there were a couple of times he should have gone to the line). I don't think anyone is capable of scoring 20ppg with a respectable efficiency without regularly going to the line.

Until he starts drawing fouls and trying to finish through contact instead of avoiding it I don't think he'll be able to live up to his potential and be the player the Suns hope he can be.

I think the Suns will be among the worst in rebounding and FTA differential this year and will have to rely on great shooting and generating a lot of TOs to get wins(which isn't very reliable).

Haven't really seen any evidence that would suggest this team is going to get dominated on the boards. This Denver game was the only game where they got dominated on the boards in the preseason and the Suns were dominant rebounding in a couple games this preseason.

I agree on the FTA however unless by some miracle Beasley figures out how to get to the line with any type of regularity.

The Suns defense was not only more mobile but very aggressive. Watching the second half, the defense challenged most every play inside and out. I can't even remember a game where a player like Ty Lawson did not blow the Suns up. I hope the Suns can play defense like this more often.

Also Beasley brought a flash of star power to the Suns.

I don't remember him having a problem getting to the line in college and that's usually a stat that stays about the same (relative to points scored) in the NBA. I believe we're going to pretend he's our superstar and live and die with what he can do for us. If that's the case, he should start getting a little more respect from the refs as the season progresses. I'm more worried about his emotional makeup than anything else. I also find it hard to believe that he's put marijuana behind him and I'm not sure he's bright enough to know when and how to get away with the occasional indulgence.

As much as I loved Nash, it was painful to see the guard get past him and break down the defense so much. This Suns defense has promise. Young able bodies that look like they can stay in front of the offensive players and also create plenty of turnovers.

He's not going to get calls just because he's the Suns "star" player. Star players get calls based on a reputation they've developed. Right now Beasley's reputation is that of a guy who avoids contact, which probably contributed to him not getting calls a couple times he was clearly fouled. And you don't need to be a star player to get to the line, just look at guys like Corey Maggette and Keven Martin. Even Hakim Warrick is able to get to the line at a high rate.

I'm really not that worried with his off the court behavior.

He's not going to go from 3 free throws a game to 10 free throws a game just because he's our "star" player but he should still benefit from that label. Once he improves his reputation as a good outside scorer, he'll start getting some of those ticky tack calls that he isn't drawing now - the kind of calls that Reggie Miller lived on. He's never going to get calls like Maggette does but few players do. He's also not going to get them at Warrick's rate because he's more of a perimeter shooter. I think we're just going to have to live with a FT disparity most nights.

Steve
