Because teams know that Warner can throw it deep and kill them with the long pass, the run game will be more effective. That threat along with the O line being in the system another year, should give us a more respectable run game. It really is going to help knowing that when Edge needs to rest the play won't drop off when Hightower comes in. I think if Matt is in there other teams are going to stack the line, and shut down the run. Which will force Leinart to beat them with the pass, something this preseason he hasn't shown he can do. I think the run game, which we have lacked, benefits from Warner starting.

didn't we run the ball better the first few weeks when Matt was starting last year?

I don't think that was entirely because of Matt either we obviously had OL injuries and other problems.

In theory it's correct if you stretch the D, it helps the run game. I don't think we saw that last year but then Matt only played 5 games and it wasn't enough to really make any good judgements on the impact on the run.

We did, but I think we have a chance to run the ball even better this year if our line can stay intact. I was more confident in Matt last year then this year, he had a better air about him. If other teams believe Matt can't hurt them through the air, they are going to stack the line. Last year teams at least acknowledged his ability so they couldn't put in the 8 man front as often. No team is going to look at the pre season tape and worry about Matt going deep. I will say the draws when Warner was in worked very well, that goes along with his ability to throw it down field.

Actually one of the reasons I like Matt is because I think one of his strengths is the playaction pass. He runs it much better then Warner and that will allay some of your fears of teams stacking the box.

For the record I like Leinart as well. If we are moving methodically down the field Matt does well. It is when we get into a third and long where Matt lets us down. While both QB's have their strengths, Matt at this point is missing more parts of the game then Warner. I am hoping that coach will dial back Warner a little like what was done with Favre(every time I spell his name I think of "Something about Mary, Favvver) last year. This would help lower his turnover count. The biggest difference in Matt this year is in his eye's, he just doesn't have the look of a guy who is about to serve you up. I suspect he will come in at some point and show the Matt that got us all so excited, and be a stronger player because of it.

I have come to realization that I just dont care who starts because I hink we can win our division w/ either one of them.

If that is the case we should start Leinart.

Exactly. If we are going to win with either, give us a year with Leinart at the helm, vs a would be 38 year old QB.
