Wow. NJ led by 9. Spurs then go on a 17-0 run with 4 1/2 left in the 4th.

Talk about choking.

:)

I find it a little ironic that the person Kmart almost singled out for not performing in last years finals, and who in some ways took the fall was Keith Van horn. Now in these two last game KMART has done very little. Tonight he is 3 for 21 and the guy they seem to need most is someone who can shoot the ball, Kieth Van Horn.
I hope someone has a go at KMART. Sick or not, if you're not right, don't play, but if you play, don't use your sickness as an excuse. Some players actually step up in physically ill situations.

The Deke trade was a total waste IMO - not Deke's fault more Byron Scott's for not utilizing him. Sure others developed throughout the season but NJ is a pitiful bunch who can't shoot or score to save their lives. They choked tonight. Heck I didn't realize they only won 49 games for the season. Thats piss poor! I feel sorry for the East :)

Another long summer for the Nets. They had this one. Such a shame they died choking

I dont like the spurs, but it was really nice to see D Rob win that championship. It was great to see that look on Kidd's face for the second straight year

They did play well up until San Antonio made there charge. What a charge it was. I think it was 72 - 63. Final score 77-88. 25 to 5 run. Thats massive!

How about Tim Duncan's line for the night.

20 points
20 rebounds
10 assists
8 blocks

That is absolutely sick.

Jason Kidd shot the ball decently tonight (8-20). Tony Parker struggled, but Speedy Claxton picked up the slack.

It should be an interesting summer. I wonder what these two teams will look like next year.

I think Stephen Jackson just hit another 3.

You'd think NJ would get a hand in his face after hitting 3 in a row. Do they ever learn?

Damn, you never leave a jump shooter. Ball 101.

Duncan should have had at least 10 blocks and I am pretty sure that I counted the blocks like they were.

The boxscores are so often wrong especially the blocks category. How can it be so hard to keep clean correct boxscores?

On the other hand I don't really think the Spurs championship was that impressive. Marbury was injured against them, Dirk was out, George and Fox were out and they couldn't put the Nets away even when Duncan was going quadruple and Kenyon Martin shooting 3/2X and Jason Kidd shooting bad as well.

Sure, San Antonio had some help along the way, but they are the NBA champions. They played well, and they deserve it.

Isn't Tim Duncan a true 7-footer? Or is David Robinson actually 7'2?

He looks a good couple of inches at least taller than Timmy.

on sportsline.com I was following the stats starting in the third quarter since TD was so close to a quadrouple double. At one point he was listed as having 20 points like 18 board, 10 asst and 9 blocks. Then he blocked the that far jumper someone took.

I look back at the game and hear them talking about his 8th block. I myself counted around 10 i thought, I think someone cheated him out of a couple.

Kenyon Martin did the best he could. He is the only one that performed in the Finals. I know you guys hate Kenyon, but c'mon.
It's not easy to play when you have a flu. What MJ did was remarkable. It's hard to function when you have a flu.

Kidd was a complete dissapointment as usual and what annoyed me was he passed the buck to others instead of himself. He is the reason why the Nets lost in the series.

I thought the Nets did the best they could, but they ran into a great team. Duncan is a special player.

Congrats to the Spurs! They had a good year and they deserve the title.

I hate Kenyon Martin with a passion, but he was the only consistent player on the Nets. If he wasn't so sick, the series might be different.

Well said.

Congrats to San Antonio for winning a non-asterisked NBA title.

That is until Games 5 & 6. He was sick as a dog during Game 5, and he had a horrible Game 6. I do think he carried the Nets during those first four games however.

Yes I did, but Martin wasn't sick yesterday. He just had a horrible game and was thoroughly outplayed by the best player in basketball.
