Considering that the defense has been ranked #26, #29, #27, and #28 in points allowed for the past 4 seasons, I'd say that's pretty good reason to fire Pendergast.

Not to mention his usual late game "prevent".

Don't get me wrong there is a case for Clancy to be fired. Some of the blame for the defensive woes are rightfully his. However some of it has to go to the players and some of it to the front office (people on here greatly over-estimate the team's defensive talent).

However with a head coach that preaches continuity and our defense being key to winning our first home playoff game in 61 years, its hard for me to believe that we're making a change at DC. Sorry, not gonna happen.

Almost every team in the National Football League would have been playing prevent defense protecting a 13-point lead with 8 minutes to play.

Outstanding effort by the defense all day long. They were the best unit out there today. No case can be made for firing Clancy Pendergast based on today's game. Heck, Mike Smith specifically singled out CP for praise in his post-game presser.
