As bad as I expect NAU's season to end, we at least have the win in Tempe.

Just remember who NAU beat. It doesn't count for much. Too bad Sendek got an extension. There must be a lot of small school coaches that could do better... maybe even high school coaches.

Source: ASU players Keala King, Chris Colvin and Kyle Cain not on trip to LA. ASU has not yet confirmed.

Good thing tonight's game is not on tv. It is going to be a long weekend in LA.

Man, Herb really has this team on track! Almost comedic what a joke this team is. Par for the course at this point with the AD.

Suspended.

Unlike most ASU fans, my first passion was always the basketball team. This season is really making it tough for me to continue watching.

Last I heard he was and had no intention of leaving.

Don't think he is leaving but wouldn't be shocked to see King and Colvin on the move. This is Colvin's 2nd suspension within the past month and King has been butting heads with Sendek since he stepped onto campus.

I expect pateev to go for 40 against UCLA.

Someone said ASu has only 6 scholarship players because of this is that true?

ASU actually up by 10 at the half, 34-24. I thought they'd have a tough time scoring 34 for the whole game.

Would be nothing short of a miracle if they actually won :)

Fitting considering it was called by an ASU alum.

Really good win considering the circumstances. Probably won't mean a bunch in the season as a whole but it's a definite bright spot seeing the team that was left come together for one game.

We should've seen this coming. Bad Trojans team that doesn't have a guard that can figure out a zone. Sun Devils sheds their three most undisciplined -- but most athletic -- players.

Sendek excels in these types of games where the team has to remain under his thumb for every second. Maybe the problem is he just needs to own up to what type of coach he is, commit to recruiting those kinds of players, and just let that identity stick no matter what type of negative recruiting they get on this coast.

Rob Evans used to drive me crazy running that motion offense while recruiting players with the lowest possible basketball IQ. I think Sendek has been falling into that trap -- wanting to recruit better athletes to play defense, only to watch the offense fall apart because none of them are suited for the offense.

Thumbs-up for the Sun Devils winning this game. I certainly did not expect this result especially playing short handed.

A win is a win and I will take it.

Extend Sendek for two MORE years!!!

Ask Lisa Love if this is possible on such short notice. :)

I heard she had been working on the last Sendek extension for two years. I think she will be gone before another two years pass.

Exactly, which is why he is best suited to be a mid major coach, who can find a bunch of scrappy kids to micromanage and overachieve against better teams due to their superior execution.

For a school like ASU, it just seems ridiculous that he would be the choice, especially for the long term. Sure, he's had some middling success, but he also runs a system on the west coast that is inherently contrary to what people want to see. Even when ASU was winning, it was a war of attrition every night, and people still didn't show up. Now that they're bottom of the barrel, the ghost town atmosphere is a total embarrassment.

It would be one thing if the boring style was successful, but it's not even that anymore. Boring hoops that don't effectively mimic the NBA style will always be a tough sell to top prospects. Combine that with a total lack of tradition, and an apathetic fan base, and it's a formula that's doomed for perpetual failure.

If ASU wants to be a scrappy mid major style fundamentals team, that's fine, but it's also boring as hell and now what we should be striving for.

I wonder if Sendek could hire an assistant coach to cure some of the offensive woes. Sadly, I do not even know who is on his staff. Over the years ASU basketball has become too painful to watch.

I guess we found out how to salvage the season. Get every game to be blacked out. Neither side can have tv or internet feeds.
