Murray’s passer ratings against the blitz are terrible. The Az Cards site notes, “Kyler Murray enters with the fourth-lowest passer rating (79.3) against the blitz and the fourth-highest passer rating (105.2) when not blitzed.” Some of that is on him, but Petzing has got to have better schemes for handling these situations. I keep talking about hot reads, rollouts, screens, and keeping a back in are all ways of helping Murray be more effective. Running Murray more will also restrict blitzing. As things stand now I’m surprised opponents don’t blitz almost every play. At some point Gannon needs to step in and demand the scheme be changed.

The other side of this is Kyler has to beat the blitz by beating man coverage. That would be a reason to not change.

We keep taking about it but Kyler has to run more.

A few designed runs will keep the defense a bit more honest and will help everything else get/keep going.

Yeah, that would be ideal. But every defense we have faced the last few weeks, and for the rest of the season, has designed a game plan to limit Kyler's runs. It is why the few runs he has had lately have mostly come on scrambles. Watch the DEs. They are not crashing down on the zone reads nearly as much as they did earlier in the year

Agreed - they are playing the edges much better against the run.

He has done well on draw's up the middle...just needs to be smart.

Yeah. The is the chicken and egg discussion of the dominating run game.

Kyler has killed the edges not keeping contain. The edges keeping contain are getting killed by the pulls from the interior line when they play 5 and 7 or can be blocked by TEs if they play 9
