This is probably be the best thing to do. But Gannon married himself to Kyler. He would have to turn it around and admit he was wrong. Or that he was wrong about Petzing.
I’m guessing nothing will change.

JG had no choice but marry himself to K1. His contract was locked and way too costly to get out of at the time. I believe that any coach that would be hired came at MO with a plan to fix K1 or at least limit his mistakes. So going conservative was their plan from the start. It just hasn't worked as you can't limit cowardly QB play. Or a QB who panics and throws either check downs or throws it up for grabs

It's not about next year. It's about the future of the franchise. And K1 is not the future, unless you can build an "85" bears defense. Then he just has to be a Trent Dilfer type QB.

No one is saying Kyler is turnover prone. Most people complain that he’s a checkdown Charlie, who chokes in the biggest moments (what few of those he’s actually led us to).

And no one here is ready to ditch him just because he had ONE 2 interception game. They’re ready to get rid of them because he has choked like a dog in EVERY BIG GAME HE’S EVER PLAYED FOR THE CARDINALS, AND WE’RE 38-57-1 since drafting him.

You realize that was over 3 years ago and even in those seasons, Kyler absolutely stunk down the stretch, with both seasons ending in complete craptacular fashion where he couldn’t hit the broad side of the barn.

It's not the 2 picks.

It's every single game when we have a chance to clinch the division, or a playoff seed, a playoff spot, even a wild card...bad kyler shows up and we lose.
Back in 2021 iirc it was 5 games...we backed into a WC because someone else lost..when we should have been the #2 seed and NFCWest champs..buy kyler choked them away then went on to put on the most pathetic playoff performance many had ever seen.

This past three game stretch... bad kyler.
An obvious shift from the guy who usually protects his stats so well.

Yes, he has some plays where he calls run on 2nd and 10 or 3rd and 5 that don't work and we all want to throw things at the TV, but every play caller has those calls at times. I do think Petzing has more than he should, but he's still learning and possibly also compensating for weaknesses at QB.

Ultimately I don't think Petzing is the issue, and is you dropped any one of the top 12 QB's in the league into this scheme we would have more wins.

My point is you lied about people saying he turns the ball over all the time. And again, Kyler looked ATROCIOUS during Kliff’s last year here throwing the ball down field, same as he did the second half of 2021.

Do you actually follow this team? Kyler is 0-3 IN JUST THIS SEASON in the last three big games that just happened. Prior to this season, Kyler had SIX chances to win a big game that would clinch us a playoff birth or win a playoff game and is a PATHETIC 0-6 while playing ATROCIOUS in all 6 games. And this year, when we started playing in the second half of the season and the playoffs came within grip again in the second half of the season, guess what… again… he’s 0-3 AND BEEN ATROCIOUS again.

That’s an unbelievably pathetic 0-9 in big games as Cardinals QB. Does that mean he will ALWAYS choke? No. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. But he’s firmly confirmed his status as a choke artist this season after his previous second half of season epic meltdowns in 2020/2021z

This team has had average talent on offense ever since he’s been here, if not above average at times (2020/2021). He’s always been supported by a good running game, has had okay to good offensive lines during some seasons, played with multiple 1000 yard WRs and now plays with a great TE with McBride and a WR everyone touted as one of the best ever coming out of college who has played at a #2 WR pace, despite not being as good as hoped.

He also has had an offensive coordinator who’s scheme and coaching have been successful enough to put a rookie QB in position to lead a previously atrocious Washington franchise to the playoffs immediately , based on the strength of the offense.

Does that mean I think the Cardinals are world beaters and he’s the only thing dragging them down? No. But he definitely shoulders a good chunk of blame for that record.

Kyler's downfield throwing issue is being exacerbated as well. This offense isn't too far from Pittsburgh's but the difference is that Russ plays off rhythm but he also chucks the ball down the field. That keeps S's back and punishes man coverage. Kyler will chuck it at times, but it isn't "at" a player where the WR has a chance at it.

I'm confident that Petzing hasn't designed plays with "checkdown" as the first option. And I'm confident that on the plays where Murray throws short of the sticks, there are other routes beyond the sticks (which may or may not be open).

It's Murray who is choosing to make those throws.

Kyler's Career interception percentage: 2.0%. Kyler's 2024 Interception percentage? 2.0%.

Kyler's Career TD percentage: 4.1%. Kyler's 2024 TD percentage: 3.8. In 2020 and 2021 it was over 4.8%.

If his first option isn’t there, he looks at the rush and goes into panic mode.

He’ll make some plays doing that but you can’t run an offense that way and expect to be successful.

It’s crazy the difference between pre and post Packers 2021 game.

I can remember 2020 when Kyler and team were in legit battles with some of the best teams in the league against Buffalo and the Seahawks. Back and forth affairs, and Kyler didn’t play perfect, but he was game, answering scores with scores, using his legs and arm with an offense was becoming dominant. He cratered after we were 6-3 and some wanted to blame that on a hard hit he took against Seattle. But that ugly second half of the season pattern started right there.

It was just this season, before the bye, he was being praised for standing in the pocket, staying calm, and doing more reads than he ever has before. But, your assessment of how he has played is exactly how he has played, most of the time, after the bye.

Whatever the reason, it's the inconsistency, from game to game, even series to series in a game, tthat drives us nuts. I mean he has had two games this year with perfect passer ratings and looks like he has mastered NFL QB. But then he plays like he does in the 1st quarter against Seattle and it's like he knows nothing.
