Or injuries?
Isn't that lack of talent?
Or injuries?
Before I jump on the "Fire Chip" bandwaggon I need the answer to this question.
Is their record due to lack of talent or motivation?

They have Gracie . . . as backup hitting instructor and cheerleader. Just the right place for him. This team needs some edge, they need Gracie.

With his behavior in the TV booth and in public, Mark Grace demonstrated a mentality that is extremely immature and hardly suited to be the top man on the field, responsible for up to 50 people.
There is a big difference between edge and management skills.
Gil Heredia appears to have worked a miracle with Archie Bradley in Reno. If he fixes Marshall and Chafin they ought to very seriously consider bringing him here to replace or assist Mike Butcher. I was not impressed or thrilled with the Butcher hire, but there is no way all of these pitchers are just this bad. This is a coaching issue.

Bump.
This guy needs to go. No way this team is this bad.
Kirk (Mr. Personality) Gibson Part 2?Firing Hale at this point is just asking for Matt Williams to be named manager. That's the only move the org has at this moment.
Why is it hard to believe this team is this bad?

This is not a 10 game sub 500 roster. Just the pinch hitting in the last game was nuts. Most of the team is playing below where they should be. To many to not look at who is getting them ready to play. They're not buying what he's selling.
Who is not playing up to where they should be?
Even with Pollock and an average year from Miller I had this team pegged as a .500 team.
The better question is who is? This roster is better than last year and at this pace we will be nowhere close. We have suck teams beating us like the Rays all the time. This team is playing bad in every way. This is not a world series line up but it's not the worst team in baseball. Pollock is not M.J. on a 8 man rotating team. This is baseball he would make little difference with the way the team is playing as a whole. People make it sound like he's a 20+ game ace. You may have gave this team a 500 grade most gave it better. Neither is even close right now and I don't see it changing. Chippy needed to pick a lineup and let them play. A team can't win if they don't know what that team is. He has no clue in a game let alone game in and game out. The man is lost and the team knows it. You can tell by the level of play and zero emotion.
Ok rant over I feel better.![]()
Only those fans sucked in by the local hype machine gave this team a much better chance than .500 ball.
The majority of our lineup is playing average to their careers at this point is not some exceeding overall.
Starting pitching has been worse mainly because of Miller, but the BP has not been bad. There are many team who are just way more talented than us. The local hype machine just didn't mention that.
Well I don't agree at all. This team should be better than last year.
Goldy is having an off year, his OBP notwithstanding...
Pollack's absence has been felt bigtime...
Other than that, the rest of this offense is what it is...
Corbin, De la Rosa and Miller have been awful..more so than we had a right to expect.
But for the most part, it's hard to argue with your point. Last season was simply not what should've been expected for the majority of players on this team..
So the team over achieved last year and this is this for this team? I say not this bad no way. They had fun after Chippy left. He looks lost when things go wrong. Chippy over achieved last year.
As I said, Goldy is better than what we've seen this year and Pollack out has hurt. But Tomas? BLOWS. Peralta? Slightly better than what we've seen this year... slightly. Owings? Yep, this is it... Segura? Regressing back to his career numbers... Lamb? Yep, this is it... Bourne? Please... Castillo? Yep, this is it... Hermann? I like what I see in him, but he's no Johnny Bench at the plate...
Gosselin? Solid bench player. Ahmed? Solid bench player - in AAA.
Add in the pathetic performances of Corbin, Ray and De la Rosa and we have what we have...
