Just got pointed to this board (Thanks Mike). I wanted to post a link for those of you that are interested.

http://boards.nbcuni.com/universalHD/index.php?showforum=4

That's the Universal HD link for the show. The more people that register and say "Thanks" the more likely they'll make a sequel.

Great to see so many Browncoats on here!

I have watched shows in the past that were canceled before and it PMO or made me a little sad to see it go. However, this is the first show that I can remember in a long time that after being canceled if felt crushed. Had this show been developed on one of the smaller networks it probably would still be on. I will post even if it gives one little glimmer of a chance.

I felt that way about Over There. That was a fricken great show.

I just finished Serenity last night. I enjoyed it. Overall I really liked the show and the movie and wish it had been continued. Loved the characters. Mal was my favorite.

Joss had said once that when he was developing Mal he thought what would Han solo be like during his hey day of smuggling. Mal, Wash and Jayne were the best.

I rewatched Serenity on HD-DVD last night. It was not the best visual or audio HD-DVD out there, but a definite improvement over DVD.

If I ever get caught up with my TV on DVD watching, this will be the first show that I rewatch.

Looks like they are rereleasing this movie on DVD.

Stuff not on the original R1 release are in bold

Serenity: Collector's Edition (2-disc)
MSRP: $26.98
DVD-9
Anamorphic Widescreen
Audio: Dolby 5.1, DTS, Spanish 2.0, French 2.0

Bonus Material:
- Deleted Scenes with Commentary by Joss Whedon
- Extended Scenes
- Outtakes
- Take A Walk On Serenity
- The Green Clan
- Joss Whedon Intro
- We'll Have A Fruity Oaty Good Time!
- Feature Commentary with Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau and Ron Glass
- Feature Commentary with Joss Whedon
- A Filmmaker's Journey
- Future History: The Story Of Earth That Was
- Re-lighting The Firefly

The DTS track and the commentary is enough to get me to doubledip (triple) if there is no word on a HDDVD rerelease.

Fight the power of the duel player, and get separate machines. Seriously. For the same price as the duel, you get a damn good Toshiba player, and a PS3.

Either way you are covered, but you get a PS3 to game on as well.

Oh, and they are giving away 5 free Bluray movies, just like they are doing with the HDDVDs when purchasing a Bluray player (including PS3s).

Also this holiday season, we will either see a price drop, or some other incentive.

It will happen. No doubt.

Probably in a couple of years from now. This isn't Sony, and they (Universal)don't force you to doubledip quite as bad. This is one of those movies that I will double dip for.

In fact, the first person that PM's me wanting it, I will send them the Serenity DVD.

The problem with that scenario is I already have 2 360's, Wii and a kick butt PC. If I got another game machine my wife might divorce me. :D Not to mention that I really don't see much incentive an owning the PS3 from a gaming stand point. My brother has one and I am not impressed with the PS3. I got to play it for a few weeks when he was moving.

Also, not that it makes a huge difference but in my Home Theater magazines they review the performance of the PS3 Blu-Ray player and the standalone units produced better video quality. I am probably still going to pick up the 360 HD DVD player but I still think standalones give you the better quality. Not to mention I can reduce clutter around my home entertainments system using one unit versus 2 to play all my movies.

Nah. It will come out soon. One thing that has been consistent is that Universal sure has been milking the "failed" show ever since. I bet the HD DVD version gets announced any day now.

I understand where you are coming from from the gaming side of the PS3. Right now, I can't say that I am overly impressed with the gameplay aspect. In fact, so far I have enjoyed the PS3 the least, after the Wii and 360 respectively. I do expect the games to get better, and in the meantime, I am enjoying the Bluray player. What home theatre magazines are you reading? Because the PS3, after the 1.8 firmware upgrade has been pretty darn good in the DVD player aspect, and has done minor fixes on the Bluray player itself.

How can you think that standalones offer the best quality, when the only announced stand alone doesn't even meet the HD-DVD benchmark standards? The Java enabled discs will not work on the standalone that is coming out soon.

I can understand not wanting to get in trouble with the Misses. I have had to sell of some of my stuff in order to "justify" getting what I have already had.

Keep this in mind though. If you buy stand alone HD-DVD players, and a PS3 (or any Bluray player) you get 5 free HD-DVDs and 5 free Blurays. That's 10 free movies, and at $20 a pop, that's $200 extra in your pocket. I can all but guarantee that Toshiba/Sony will not allow that promotion on the duel players, as it is cutting into the bottom line of each company.

I will have to dig it out. I had 4 subsciptions but now I am down to 3. :)
At any rate, it had to do with the video processing. The PS3 didn't score all that well in the HQV benchmarks even with the lastest firmware. The high end Blu-ray didn't either but it was closer.

Also, the only stand alone dual that doesn't support the interactive features is the current LG. The new ones announced (like the Samsung) claim they will fully be able to take advantage of the interactive features of both formats.

Keep this in mind though. If you buy stand alone HD-DVD players, and a PS3 (or any Bluray player) you get 5 free HD-DVDs and 5 free Blurays. All that means is that Toshiba or Sony won't subsidize the cost of that type of promotion. I would bet that a major chain like Best Buy would still do some sort of promotion sooner or later. Besides the free DVD's ultimately wouldn't be a major decision factor for me.

Watched the complete series and Serenity this past week. Loved the dialogue and character interactions. Haven't decided which character I liked best, but I think I'm leaning towards Mal.

Overall I enjoyed it very much, and it's a shame it got canceled so early.
