Playah won't be on this team next year, but he'll be involved in a camp competition...hopefully with Capshaw.

First cuts? B. Johnson, C. Lewienski and R. Tate.

Elton Brown, Matt Ware. Fred Wakefield and Adam Berger are both UDFAs this offseason? I have a hard time believing that. If we really only have 2 DEs on the roster after March, we're going to have to draft one or two.

But I'm not sure IITC's list is right (all due respect), because I'm certain that Navarre is a Restricted Free Agent that is worth the low-round tender and will almost certainly be retained.

I just don't see what Arrington gives us for a second round pick. Shipp is a better RB JJ was only average on KO returns I think ranked 28th or so. I would just as soon have Ferri as my third back. Brown didn't even see the field this year did he?

I thought Wakefield did a better job than I expected as a blocking TE.

JJ and Player go as well as Brown.

Calvin Pace & Scott Player.

Navarre likely if they sign another halfway decent QB.

I think Arrington sticks around, I doubt they give up on a 2nd round pick going in to his 3rd season...but its very likely his last chance to prove himself.

no, Brown and Ware are included in my list, Bergen is a ERFA

that list is an exhaustive one that I complied from nflpa.org, and anybody missing from that list is a free agent in one way or another, meaning that they are not under contract

I would trade JJ, never cut him.

He will be a good player for a team that can use him.

Brown and Ware are the only guys that I see being cut outright without at least coming to camp.

As for the others, there's very little chance that the Cards don't tender their ERFAs and RFAs--again--without letting the new coach at least seeing them in camp. Joeshmo has posted the list of the Cards actual UFAs, and besides Huff and Macklin, there's really nothing to speak of.

For example, there's no way that a guy like Antonio Smith, who should be a RFA, isn't going to get tendered, probably at the mid-level. If Rod Graves isn't ********, he'll also extend the contract of a guy like Cooper or keep Pace on the roster.

Pace, as much as a bust as he's been and as big a symbol of Rod Graves's failures as a personnel guy, is a fine fourth DE for next season.

...I don't get all the Player-hating on the board. Is it the facemask?

Player averaged 44.9 yards-per-punt this season, which was 6th in the NFL.
Yet his net avg. was 34.5 yards, tied for 32nd in the league...

So is it Player or the punt coverage at fault. Too bad they don't have a hang time stat, because I feel Player would rank near the bottom in that catagory also.

I would say punt coverage, just like kick coverage the punter/kicker was always in the picture it seemed when our opponent was tackled. How many times did Rackers get a tackle, I wonder if he set a record this year because I've never seen a kicker make so many tackles. Punt coverage flaws were the same as well imo. Player also seemed to be good on corner kicks to pin our opponent. He isn't bad, I don't see a need to get rid of him.

I'd keep Player. I think he was invincible in '05, got rattled in '06, and will be back in form next year. I'd keep Arrington, who showed nothing in '05 but a few flashes of hope this year.

I really, really had hope for Navarre when he first got here. Now, I really, really hope he goes out the door.

Throw in Elton Brown and I agree.

I think Elton Brown entering his 3rd year deserves one more shot in training camp under a new coach. If he doesn't hack it, so be it, but it isn't like we need the cap space. I'm hoping the light comes on and he can at the very least provide valuable depth...if not, oh well.

That gets me thinking---who are we going to send to NFL Europe this year? Could Brown be a candidate? How about Navarre, Watkins, Blackstock, Hunter or Johnson?

I doubt you will get Brown to go to Europe. I heard(early in season) he was not sure he wanted to play football. Just think how bad he must have been in practice to get no shot this year with our OL.
