Actually the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos sent us pass rushers.

The Cardinals did sacrifice their MLB Aztec style to the football gods after the 2003 draft brought a new one.

Didn't Green/Graves replace 9 of 11 starters on defense in only 2 seasons? 10 of 11 going into this year and 7 of 11 "starters" (in the three WR set) on offense? Only starters that were on team in 2003:Wilson on D; Boldin, BJ,Wells, and BIgg on Offense.

However I'm going to have to side with Joe and Zeno on this one because look what all that turnover brought us, another 5-11 season and a top 5 pick in the draft. :D

that is the story of this franchise. 5-11 seasons and high turnover rates.
i don't expect people to agree with me, but this is my opinion.

I read talk here about retaining Robert Griffith and David Macklin and I am rather skeptical.

Griffith may be a leader and a good tackler, but he's ancient and if we draft FS by the second round, we can have that guy in place to move into FS spot, and just have Francisco as the opening day FS. Also, we need to look at picking up at least two top notch corners through the draft and free agency. It could be argued that in the Three Stooges nickel package of Rolle-Green-Macklin, Macklin was the worst of those three. He's also the oldest, so it's unlikely his best years are ahead of him.

Scott Player, I tire of the goofy facemask.

If he survives the next coach I will know all hope is lost, other than that, hopefully the bad players.

Some of that may be true, but you don't let go of players until you have their clear replacements, and we don't have those two corners through the draft or free agency or the first-day free safety yet. Depending on getting those guys and having them produce is what yielded us Bryant Johnson, Calvin Pace, Wendell Bryant, etc., etc. I don't want to follow that road again.

Macklin was effective for two years before this one, when he had an effective pass rush in front of him. Robert Griffith made a ton of plays this season and was excellent at getting the middle 9 in the position to make plays. He also seems to have a better understanding of the defense that Pendergast runs than anyone else on the team.

I'm not saying they need to start. I'm not even saying that they ought to be on the opening-day roster. But it would be a huge mistake to let them go without knowing who's going to replace them.
