They put 8 guys in the box. Hand off to Emmitt, Hodgins lays a crushing block on the safety and it is a 6 yard gain.

1st Play

For all those who have guessed what the first play will be, just relax, the Doctor will see you shortly.

Put him in motion to rookie Bailey's side with both Shipp and Smith split in the backfield. And go ahead and make it 14 yards.

Then run Hodgins up the gut.

Then commence play calling as usual. That should loosen things up a little bit.

Blake takes a knee just set the pace of the game...and take some additional time off the clock.

Yes, we all agree!

A bomb, Blake style!

I think we should start of with the infamous Statue of Liberty play or maybe a quintuple reverse.

Our first play.........this is easy...........McCown bootlegs and scrambles for a 20 yd gain. OK OK only kidding!

We have to start with a running play for a number of reasons, most noteably to settle everyone down. Attempting a passing play would be too "pressure packed" right out of the gates and opens up the chance for a miscue early. We need everyone to get in a little contact on the first play. Now what will that running play look like................depends on what side of the hash marks we're operating from. Ideally, I'd like to see Davis pull to the right and along with Jones and Hodgins as lead downfield blockers, have Smith sweep right. Gain of eight.

Second play........Smith following Hodgins between the right guard and tackle. Gain of eight. First down

Next play......slant pass to Jones........gain of ten. First down.

Next play......downfield baby.........let it fly. Complete to Gilmore Gain of thirty and then fifteen yards after the catch.

Final play of the first series.......Hodgins behind "BIG" for the TD.

You heard it first here baby!

...

3 wide, emmit and hodgins in the backfield.
play action - if nothing downfield, a dumpoff to either of the backs or tight end.

1st down: Emmit off tackle - gain of 3

2nd down: Emmit around end - loss of 2

3rd down: Hitch to Shipp - gain of 27

In the pregame interview, Mac says "we're going to run Emmitt behind Leonard Davis on the first play from scrimmage."

When Jeff Blake walks onto the field, he looks at Detroits D-line, and tells them Emmitt's gonna run right there.

As Leonard walks up to the line of scrimmage, he says "here we come, right here."

Leonard pancakes one defender, while he pops another one with his cast hand, Hodgins takes out a linebacker, who falls back into the safety, Emmitt pops through for 16 yards.

Emmitt jumps up, dusts off, and proclaims...THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, RIGHT THERE.

Then run the same damn play, over and over till they can stop it.

We almost nailed it. It wasn't quite up the middle but the result was the same. 1 yard run by Emmitt Smith. Can't say I every remember seeing the Cards pitch the ball to a RB like that.
