Someone please please tell me why everyone is so happy about this?? Basically, Graves bent entirely over and gave Fitz exactly what he wanted. If that was the gameplan this could have been done weeks ago.

For the life of me I just dont get this. There goes the power-run theme.

I hope all of you are this happy in a year or two when Q is gone.

Because this is the opposite of what has happened in the past, where the Cardinals let talented players leave. This locks up a pro-bowl receiver for four years, and enables the Cardinals to be active in free agency if they want.

I could care less if Fitz is getting paid more than you like. I do care about keeping one of our best players happy and in red for the next few years. And yes, I'm happy he got a no-trade clause because I don't want him playing in Philadelphia.

So what kind of receiver do you want in a power run theme? Obviously not one as good as Fitz?
11million $ per year finesse recievers just are not part of power running teams. Take it how you want. I would prefer guys who stretc the field and guys who block.

For the millionth time, I like Fitz, I just dont like the thought of spending money like that on a reciever. We have been a good to great passing team for as long as I have been alive. We have almost always sucked ass at running the ball. What have those things brought us???? I was open to change.

I think 10 mill per year is a little steep.

Usually in these cases you extend the guy and get several more years on the contract. In our case we only got two years and an 8 gigit cap figure for the life of the contract.

I would have signed him to 5 minimum.

Our case? we only get, where does this we vs. Fitz mentality come from?

Fitz is the we and our, you are the customer.

:yeahthat:

I don't care about the Bidwill's money, I just want to see damn good football. That usually requires good players. I hope they spend too much on Boldin and Dansby too. I would actually find that refreshing.

It is we the Cardinals vs. Fitz because in the long and short this is a business. He won this round. Especially considering WE(cardinals) only got four years.

I would have signed him to 7 years. See if you can beat that! :)

Good points, But Fitz is likely the guy now, I wouldn't be shocked to see an older Boldin delt if the price is right, but you are absolutely correct the red don't need 2 great WR's, they need better lines.

No, it looks like 2011. So, Parker got what he wanted on that end.

If his contract is up in 2011 then it would only be a 3 year deal. if it is 4 it should rune through 2012 and be over heading into 2013.

But would you would have no problem spending that kind of money on Boldin, who doesn't fit that mold of receiver either?

2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.

That's how I count it.

The Arizona Cardinals and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald reached agreement on a blockbuster four-year, $40 million contract that will free up much-needed salary cap room for the team.

Fitzgerald
Fitzgerald announced the deal on his Web site, saying he will make $33 million over the first three years of the contract.

Over the final two years of his old deal, Fitzgerald was scheduled to make $14,592,500 in 2008 and $17,355,000 in 2009. That put the team in a tight cap bind -- with less than $400,000 of cap room remaining -- so signing players was tough until they struck a deal with Fitzgerald. They had only 48 players on their roster and only 16 players on defense.

The team was trying to find a way to convince Fitzgerald to sign a six-year deal. In the end, Fitzgerald got his way and signed a four-year deal.
