Very surprised by this Palmer news. I thought he was a lock.

The other thing that bothers me is their attitude. This "Oh I dunno" ho-hum mindset they both seem to have.

What I would have in their shoes, had I just played for 12+ years and it was coming to end, was a huge surge of "ALL RIGHT! THIS IS IT! 1 FINAL PUSH!"

Very similar to Steve smith Sr. He didnt go out half-heartedly. He wanted his final season to be his best. It wasnt, but thats not the point. His mindset was in the right place.
I think they both know deep down inside what their decisions are!!! I'm quite sure both have also had their discussions between them as well. I still say we will have an answer sometime next week.

Do you know where next years Super Bowl is? I'll give you a hint...it's starts with M & ends with A

I wouldn't look too much into the Leftwich being a QB coach situation as an indication that Palmer is gone. Stump Mitchell had left and Leftwich was already on the staff. Made it easy to switch around positions.

Carson Palmer indicated that he is hopeful but not committed to playing football in 2017 in a text message to Arizona Central's Dan Bickley.

"I guess nothing is ever official until it is, but I'd like to play if my body responds the way I hope," Palmer texted Bickley. Palmer essentially confirmed an NFL Network report via the text message after Ian Rapoport reported Palmer feels "tired, worn down, and trying to see how his body responds" after "the most physically trying season of his career." The Cardinals are hoping to get an answer from Palmer by mid-February so that they can adjust their offseason approach accordingly. Palmer turned 37 in December.

If Palmer does indeed retire in the coming weeks, Keim has to pull the trigger & trade for either Jimmy G, McCarron or Glennon IMO.
I find it funny you included McCarron and Glennon is the same sentence as Jimmy. They aren't close.

I'm not sure I renew Sunday Ticket if Glennon is our QB.

The pounding that these guys take at their age, it is understandable to question whether you want to go through it again. Especially when you thought you were close, and then didn't even make the playoffs.

I'm good with their decisions either way. I just hope they make them sooner rather than later.

So you're saying that Glennon & McCarron are bad QBs?

Neither are most certainly good.

This. I'm not even sure that Garoppolo is good. Fewer than 100 pass attempts in the NFL in 3 seasons. Had 2 starts and then he got injured. He didn't log a stinker in those two games against one good defense (we ended up 3rd in DVOA) and one avearge one (MIA ended up 19th).

Someone is going to give up a first-round pick to kick the tires on Handsome Jim for a year or offer him $60M guaranteed. I hope that's not us. I've learned from the Kevin Kolb experience (7 starts before we traded for him). I'd rather have Jay Cutler.

If Palmer does hang it up, is there any way for Fitz to go somewhere else (with the organization's blessing) to try for a ring? He could get one more shot and the Cards might get something for it. Right now my desire for Fitz to retire with a ring is paramount and overrides even my hatred for the Patriots.
Fitz has already said that he is playing for Arizona, he might be thinking about retiring he has said recently he is NOT thinking about leaving

I'm a little more confident in Jimmy than K9, but the question marks still remain.

Both Glennon and McCarron were limited players in college, were drafted in the areas where limited players are drafted, have shown to be limited players in the NFL, and I feel it is silly to think they will be anything more than that in Arizona.

I think.after osweiller fiasco nobody will give high draft picks or huge contract for unproven qbs

If Palmer does retire and Fitz doesn't but wants to play for a contender, I will have ZERO problems with us trading him to one and that team immediately
Becoming my 2nd favorite team. I love Larry unlike any other Phoenix sports hero EVER. If he can't win one with us, I'd still love to see him hold
Up that trophy somewhere else... as long as it's not Seattle. That would make me puke/crap simultaneously.

Glennon actually had a really good rookie season even though the record didn't show it

I didn't follow McCarron in college and don't have any idea how good he might be as an NFL starter... but i'm curious about the basis for your claim that he's "shown to be limited ... in the NFL". He only had three starts, but he had over 66% completions, 6 TDs vs. 2 INTs, a passer rating of 97, and went 2-1, with the loss being a 3-point game vs. the Super Bowl champs. Not bad for a rookie. Granted he was surrounded by plenty of talent with the Bengals last year.

Glennon is 6-15 as a starter. That's the only stat that matters. No thank you

Since that's the only stat that matters, Brock Osweiler has a 14-9 record as a starter and Matt Stafford is 51-61. Which would you rather have?

I digress. I'm confident that Glennon wouldn't make us a contender, particularly considering that he would be compensated based on potential and not production. In the off chance that Palmer retires, I would take a long look at bringing in Tony Romo for 1-2 years. Even if Fitz retires, provided the team keeps the defense in tact, that keeps the window open slightly.

McCarron was excellent in college at turning around and handing the ball over to one of his monster running backs and not making mistakes. Not horrible, but not a guy who's going to take us to the next level.

yeah... if Palmer retires, I might make a play for Romo, especially if Fitz is along for the ride. Without him, that's a tough call. romo throwing to Brown, Nelson and a likely high pick seems pretty risky, especially since we'll probably have to give up a high pick to get him because someone desperate will throw a good pick at Dallas.
