There's a nice article on Fitz in the San Jose Mercury News today about how he ended up at Pitt because his grades in HS put off the bigname schools. Pitt's coaches convinced him to transfer to a Military Prepschool to get his grades up, he did, the big schools like Penn State came calling, but he said no Pitt was behind me when nobody else was interested, I'm going to stick with them now.

I'm sure it's hyperbole but in the article ex Pitt Coach Walt Harris and ex QB Tyler Palko(now a futures contract player for us) both said that in practice Fitz could regularly throw the ball 70 yards in the air. They also talk about how he had a broken hand while at Pitt and would go through entire practices catching everything with just one hand.
Ohio State was his second choice .

So many here are wishing the Cardinals would run the FO like the Steelers. Well, the Steelers have been very savvy in keeping some vets and letting others go. I doubt the Steelers would pay to keep two premium receivers on their roster.

i cringe to even type this, but the steelers were in a similar situation years ago with ward and plax. plax started getting mouthy, had been an injury problem, and out the door he went. i could see the same thing happening with boldin.

I still think Boldin will get a new deal this offseason. Even if he doesn't, I bet he's back here next season.

Not a chance in hell that Q plays again in a Cards jersey under his current terms... We have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl then.... wait!! That doesn't work anymore!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!! :D

He'll play, he has to.

this all started because Graves during LAST season publicly said they wanted to get a new deal for Boldin. This summer, and during this season, he repeated that. What he said today was right in line with all of that, including not getting a deal done last summer.

I truly believe that Boldin will be traded this offseason for a couple reasons.

From Boldin's standpoint, this will be his last big payday. With his style of play and history of injuries, Boldin's time of commanding a high dollar salary is fading fast. I don't think that this year will be his last productive season, but I do believe that they are numbered and Boldin knows this. His facial fracture this season only enforced this fact more and I am sure that he wants a huge contract and I can't blame him.

Unfortunately the dollars that Boldin wants does not make sense for the Cardinals organization. With a potentially transitioning offense, and multiple players to extend, I am sure that the Cardinals will be hesitant to sink considerable money into a depreciating asset like Boldin. I am sure that they will offer him a quality offer from their standpoint but I believe that it will not be in the level that Boldin is looking for.

The best part of all of this from the Cardinals standpoint is that they have all the negotiating power involving potential trades. Yes Boldin is unhappy, which can lead to a diminished trade value, but he is under contract for two more years so they aren't under the gun. Boldin also had a pro bowl season and had a career high in touchdowns to over-shadow his in season injury. Finally, the Cardinals had a very successful season which tends to inflate players trade value because it is a rare occurrence for players to hold out who are on successful teams. All reasons that if the Cardinals can't work out a deal with Boldin this offseason his value will have never been higher.

I honestly think a team will offer a Roy Williams type trade for Boldin, (PHI, NYG, CHI, MIN, TB) are just some of the teams that are looking for a WR and with only Crabtree and Maclin (Percy Harvin does not impress me) there isn't much available in the draft.

The Cards are sitting pretty and should be prepared to reap a really good deal out of the Boldin situation.

People, stop talking about the "uncapped" season. It is NOT going to happen. The majority of franchises will not let it happen. There are very few clubs who are willing to let it happen (ie Dallas, who will spend themselves stupid) and it WILL be prevented. It is a factor in theory, but the reality is it will probably become a non-factor even before the start of the 2009 season. Use your head folks, there are way too many smaller market teams that simply cannot afford to have an uncapped year.

So now they are refuting that Fitz actually said that?

Supposedly someone asked him during media day "would you do anything to help the (Anquan) situation? He replied, "sure I would." That was it.
