When you consider "what makes the Cardinals Cardinals" you want a superb human being like Fitz at the top of your list.

Without Fitz, we'd risk being just one more nfl also-ran.

I don't see Fitz hanging around for that long. I do think he could hang around for 3 years for a shot at the all time receptions title. Plus that would keep Whitten from passing him.

To me, this year and Fitz moving into second in both yards and receptions was always a given. If he finishes with 100+ catches for this season, I think he'll be back for another year. If he manages to keep his production up for these next two seasons, it'll put him in striking distance of #1 receptions in year 3.

Go Cards!!!

Your evaluation is much more realistic than my own that has Fitz playing for 7 more years when he'll be 41. LOL. Of course, Jerry Rice played until he was 41.

Rice was making noise that he may want to come out of retirement. Maybe he hears Fitz's footsteps.

Heroes are Forever Young.

But he is clearly not playing for a SB as he states, but rather to become the #2 of all time behind Jerry. I applaud him, switch places with Walsh, the niners team then, and no salary cap and Larry Legend would have all the records. He has hands of glue without the illegal substances. He played with junk QBs half of his career and still set himself apart from the rest. We will never see another Larry in our lifetime. We are blessed to have him on our team.

This may be the STUPIDEST Yahoo! comment ever:

Cousin's breaks the bank, too little supply vs the demand for NFL quarterbacks. Fitzgerlad deserves every loss he experienced with the Cardinals. He is one of those "all about the money" players and he maximized his leverage to squeeze every dime out of Arizona. His insatiable greed forced AZ to move on from Boldin and other good players

Even if Fitz walked away today, he would still be in the discussion as to the GOAT at WR. . . even with the yardage difference between him and Rice. The talent level Rice played with far outshines any roster that Fitz played with. As Cardinal fans, we have all been lucky to witness this Star wearing Cardinal Red and defining what it means to be a professional football player.

Fitz is a great receiver and a Hall of Famer, but the only part of the conversation about GOAT WR he can reasonably be included in is "we can say for sure that Larry Fitzgerald isn't the GOAT, right?"

One first team All-Pro. That's it. There was one season when Fitz was considered among the five best wide receivers in the NFL. Andre Johnson was a 2 time All-Pro. Randy Moss was first-team All-Pro 4 times. Calvin Johnson was first-team All-Pro three times.

Jerry Rice was first-time all pro 10 times(!!!!!).

I just looked at jerry Rice’s numbers today. I mean they are absolutely mind boggling. When you look at them on a year-by-year basis I mean absolutely crazy. He didn’t even have a single fumble until year 8. And only 11 fumbles in an 18 year career. And I’m unsure why I focused on the fumbles but the rest of his numbers were absolutely bonkers.

I love Fitz more than any player in any Arizona sport history, but there is no discussion about who the GOAT is for WR.

No one can touch Rice. Not in stats, TDs, longevity, impact, playoff performance and rings.

Dude isn’t just the best WR ever, he’s in the conversation for the greatest football player ever.

^^ truth

I grew up in the Bay Area and had the pleasure of witnessing Jerry's entire career firsthand.. and moved to Phoenix in 2004 and have done the same for Larry's career. If Fitz plays out 2018 and winds up #2 to Jerry in the important statistical records, it will be the "right" finish - Jerry #1, Fitz #2. Nobody is likely to touch Jerry's accomplishments in our lifetimes, if ever.

I agree Rice is the GOAT. Hands down. He was fortunate to play for Walsh in the west coast offense and couldn’t be stopped. They invented YAC because of him. 10 yard slant and 80 yard TD, untouched. Perfect situation for him in SF. But the man trained his ass off and earned everything he got. Fitz has had to play with junk QBs much of his career and with the same work ethic, he has made lemonade from sour lemons. Both are great and I am proud to say Fitz is the 2nd best WR and perhaps the best role model I have ever seen. We need more men like Legend in sports.
