Now just find him a QB that gets him the ball...although I guess looking at his career he even produces with crap at QB.

I think he made his decision so quickly, because SK and Wilks have shared their plan with him...and it probably includes a plan A and plan B, that Larry buys into.

Going into 2018, Fitz (at 15,545) is 7,350 yards behind Jerry Rice (at 22,895). That is about half as much production difference that Fitz has in his career and certainly looks like an impossible mountain to climb. But Rice put up those numbers in a career that spanned 19 years with Fitz having played 13 years so far.

Got to believe Fitz has his eye on the all-time receiving yard record (even if he is too humble to admit it). If he plays 6 more years he will have to average 1225 yards each year; if he plays 7 more years that average number is down to 1,050. Fitz has put up 1215, 1023, and 1156 in the last three years. If any athlete can will himself to perform to that 1,050 number for the next 7 years, I’d bet on Fitz. Just get him a pro-level QB.

His Yard/Catch has gone down—perhaps more a reflection of playing the ‘Hines Ward’ role in BA’s offense. Not sure how much speed Fitz has lost (if any) over the years but he has certainly learned the WR position. He routinely schools DBs on the art of making a catch. The rules that favor the offense vs the defense also works in Fitz’s favor.

It will forever be a point of discussion as to how many yards Fitz would have in his career if he had someone like Montana or Young throwing him the rock during his prime years. Check out his stats for 2012-2014—plenty of yardage to be had in those seasons if Fitz had a QB.

Even if Fitz walked away today, he would still be in the discussion as to the GOAT at WR. . . even with the yardage difference between him and Rice. The talent level Rice played with far outshines any roster that Fitz played with. As Cardinal fans, we have all been lucky to witness this Star wearing Cardinal Red and defining what it means to be a professional football player.

IMO unless we land a STELLAR quarterback moving forward and are making consistent playoff runs, he will only play a few more years. over 1k yards for 7 more years isn't really possible. Fitz is what, 34 now?

But with STELLAR quarterback play, if he starts racking up 1300 yards a season and we are sniffing super bowl, I could see him going 3-5 years.

I don't see Fitz hanging around for that long. I do think he could hang around for 3 years for a shot at the all time receptions title. Plus that would keep Whitten from passing him.

To me, this year and Fitz moving into second in both yards and receptions was always a given. If he finishes with 100+ catches for this season, I think he'll be back for another year. If he manages to keep his production up for these next two seasons, it'll put him in striking distance of #1 receptions in year 3.

Go Cards!!!

I figured this was a given.
Yeah, Fitz don't sign an $11mil extension and then turn around and walk away from it. There's really only two things left for him to keep playing for - 1) becoming the #2 WR all-time and 2) winning a SB. #2 will ultimately be his choice if he wants to be traded to a contender at some point.
