Right-hander Brad Ziegler, who had some of his best years in Arizona, has converted nine of 10 save opportunities but has a 7.83 ERA and suffered his first blown save in a 3-2 walkoff loss at San Diego on Wednesday, although the winning run scored on aa throwing error.
Kyle Barraclough and Drew Steckenrider are options, manager Don Mattingly said. Each pitched a scoreless inning Wednesday, and none of the trio pitched in an 8-3 loss Thursday.
“I’ve never had a stretch like this really,” Ziegler, an 11-year veteran, told reporters. “It’s frustrating for sure.”

The talk of the town regarding the Arizona Diamondbacks has been the offense.
They have been the worst offensive baseball club in the majors, breaking some impressive records along the way.
That made Friday an odd jolt in the system for a batting order that desperately needed one.
The D-backs hit five home runs in the first five innings of their series opener against the Miami Marlins Friday night.
Clay Buchholz beats Miami as D-backs play home run derby
PHOENIX — Well, that was a nice change. Maybe all that needed to change was Clay Buchholz finally getting a chance to pitch at home.
In his first two starts — both on the road — with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Buchholz received just a single run of support. That’s right, one measly run.
His teammates made it up to him on Friday. In a very big way.
Daniel Descalso, Jake Lamb, Ketel Marte, John Ryan Murphy and David Peralta all hit home runs — all within the first five innings — as the D-backs handled the Miami Marlins, 9-1, in the opener of the three-game series played in front of an announced crowd of 25,866 at Chase Field.
Murphy went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Marlins.
Murphy clubbed his eighth homer of the year off reliever Jarlin Garcia in the fifth inning, and has now recorded a hit in five consecutive games. Murphy has excellent numbers against lefties to the tune of a .361 average with five homers and 11 RBI in 36 at-bats, but against righties he's hitting only .209 with three homers and six RBI in 43 at-bats. Even with the unfavorable splits, the backstop's .950 OPS is good for second among MLB catchers.
Diamondbacks tie franchise mark with 6 HRs, beat Marlins 9-1

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona's bats woke up during a three-game series against Cincinnati. The Diamondbacks kept rolling in their opener against Miami, sending one ball after another over the Chase Field walls.
Ketel Marte hit homers from each side of the plate for two of Arizona's franchise record-tying six homers, helping the Diamondbacks roll over the Marlins 9-1 on Friday night.
"Our approach was outstanding all night long," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. "We waited for the pitch we were trying to line up and square up, and we didn't miss it."
Lamb went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Marlins.
Lamb took starter Elieser Hernandez deep in the third for his second home run on the year. The 27-year-old is hitting .232/.338/.411 with 11 RBI in 16 games this season. Lamb has spent considerable time on the disabled list this year with a left AC joint sprain, but if he's healthy he should be a reliable source of power and RBIs at the third base position
