Marte went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's win over the Marlins.

Marte clubbed a home run off lefty Jarlin Garcia in the fifth, and then hit another solo shot -- his third of the year -- off righty Brad Ziegler in the eighth. It was Marte's first multi-homer game of his big-league career, and he now has 15 RBI and 19 runs scored to go along with 14 extra-base hits.

Diamondbacks' Clay Buchholz: Strikes out nine in win Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Buchholz (1-1) struck out nine and walked one in a win over the Marlins on Friday, giving up one run on six hits in seven innings.

Buchholz was very effective in Friday's contest, allowing only one extra-base hit and throwing 71 of 99 pitches for strikes. Buchholz hasn't allowed more than one run in each of his three starts for Arizona this season, resulting in a 1.50 ERA and 0.67 WHIP to go along with a 14:2 K:BB in 18 innings. The 33-year-old will look to keep things going in his next start against the Giants in San Francisco.

Diamondbacks go for another win against Marlins
Greinke, 3-4 with a 3.65 ERA, has continued the home success that led him a 13-1 record in 16 starts at Chase Field last year. He is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in six home starts this season, limiting opponents to a .184 batting average. His strikeout/walk ratio is 7.29:1, third in the majors behind Corey Kluber and Miles Mikolas.

He has never lost to the Marlins, going 5-0 with a 3.77 ERA in 10 appearances, nine starts, against them, with 52 strikeouts and 16 walks in 59 2/3 innings.

Diamondbacks' Jake Lamb: Out of Saturday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Lamb is out of Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

He is hitting .211/.333/.447 with two home runs and a 12:8 K:BB in 38 at-bats over his last 12 games. With lefty Caleb Smith toeing the rubber for Miami, the Diamondbacks will go with a right-heavy lineup, starting Deven Marrero at the hot corner.

Diamondbacks' John Ryan Murphy: Out of Saturday's lineup
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Murphy is out of Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

He will sit for the fourth time over the last nine games, but has four home runs and a .364 batting average in 22 at-bats over that stretch. Jeff Mathis is starting behind the dish and hitting eighth.

It's expected, because Greinke declares who his personal Catcher is. Although I don't think his performances warrant that any more. Especially facing a lefty today.

If Murphy is not in the starting lineup again on Sunday, though, in favor of Avila, we'll know that any hint of Murphy now being our lead Catcher is horsefeathers. We'll see!

Nice to see a sac fly score a run
I'm glad that, if Mathis has to catch Greinke, at least it was against a lefty pitcher.

It was interesting to hear Steve announce that the D-backs decided to stop swinging for the fences ... and started hitting home runs ... and triples ... and doubles ... etc.

It's nice to see us score five runs in the first three innings of these past two games. It beats the hell out of 1-run-on-2-hits game after game.

We are back tied for 1st place (although percentage points behind Colorado). We win today and have 1st place to ourselves again.

I've been gone and off the grid for a week. Anything new?
See Post #41. :)

I'll be gone, too, leaving next Friday, then again two weeks later.

I'll check my iPhone for our scores while I'm gone, but I'll miss the details.

I'll be leaving the morning after the NBA draft so I'll see if the Suns, in fact, choose #1 with their #1, but I won't have time for the gazillions of comments on ASFN-Suns.

Thanks, AZ. The Paris Las Vegas hotel then, two weeks later, friends in Santa Barbara.

I'm not an Arizona native, but May 31st was my 40th anniversary of living in NE Phoenix. 'Best decision I ever made.

My license plate reads as close as I could get phonetically to PARADISE.
BTW, the D-backs are indeed now back in sole possession of 1st place. :bday:

The D-Backs learned that when you cross home plate after rounding the other bases safely, you get a run. And at the conclusion of the game, if you have more of those runs than your opponent, you win.

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Evens record with win over Marlins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Greinke (4-4) allowed one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

The 34-year-old took advantage of a favorable matchup and picked up his first win in over a month. He was ahead in the count all night, throwing first-pitch strikes to 23 of 27 batters faced. Greinke now has a 1.64 ERA at home this season and a 6.14 ERA away from Chase Field. He will have a tough time improving much on that road mark next week with a trip to Colorado on tap.

Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt: Launches homer in win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Goldschmidt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Marlins.

Goldschmidt has now homered in two of his last three games at home after going without a home run in his first 27 games at Chase Field to begin 2018. The 30-year-old has hit safely in seven of his last eight and seems to be finally getting comfortable at the plate, but he's still not running at all. Goldschmidt has attempted just one stolen base since April 25.

D-backs strike first and often yet again, win their second straight series
By Craig Grialou | June 2, 2018 at 11:01 pm
UPDATED: June 2, 2018 at 11:09 pm
PHOENIX — Torey Lovullo refers to it as playing downhill baseball, or playing with the lead.

The Arizona Diamondbacks did just that for much of April, hence their success, only then to be on the opposite end far too many times during an 8-19 May.

It would appear the pendulum has swung back in the D-backs’ favor.

Home runs by Paul Goldschmidt and David Peralta helped spot the D-backs a 5-0 lead on their way to a 6-2 series-clinching victory over the Miami Marlins in front of an announced crowd of 34,117 at Chase Field on Saturday night.
