I understand that with even the worst QBs I've ever seen Larry still put up back to back seasons of 1100 yard and 1400 yards with Skelton and Kolbcussion throwing him the ball. Floyd did nothing last year with Palmer healthy and was mediocre the year before.

and still, even if you disagree that with people that he's been good, calling our their FANDOM and implying they're not real fans seems really stupid to me.
Fitz was the 3rd overall pick in his draft and is a future hall of famer. Of course in his prime he was able to put up big numbers even when he had a bad QB and that is a credit to just how good he has been. Honestly if he had a career QB situation like Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice than his career numbers would probably be record breaking at this point.

Of course Floyd isn't going to be able to replicate that. That being said despite having a down year last year and only having the starting QB for 6 games he still posted 841 yards and 6 TDs. For a year in which was a bad year for him I will take those numbers.

Larry averaged 1250 yards with AWFUL QBs for 32 games. Floyd averaged 900... with Palmer playing 22 of the 32 games. That's nothing to shout about and certainly. And I like that you completely ignore his rookie year as well.

Bottom line... a guy averaging 700 yards per game over his first three seasons taken as a high first round pick isn't impressive, in any sense of the word.

but again, that wasn't even my point. My point was you calling out people's fandom as fake because in their opinion he's been mediocre... which he's been. That's completely uncalled for.
You are comparing Floyd to a future hall of famer. That's the problem with your argument right there.

Dude your seriously clinging to his rookie year. He was a freaking rookie dude. There was a + 500 yard difference from year 1 to year 2. He's averaged over 900 the last 2 years come on now guy. Larry is an all time great hall of Famer. He was the 3rd pick in the draft s finalist for the heisman and one of the best college WR I've ever seen. Well uh Larry did this like you just don't grasp the concept that they are on two completely different skill levels. One is GOOD and one is a HALL OF FAMER that concept is just lost on you. I'm amused

John Brown was picked in the 3rd round, 91st overall. He had a better rookie year than Floyd (1st round, 13th overall) and is on pace to have a better second year.

I'm not clinging to anything. I'm talking about his entire career. Where's he's been mediocre at best. Period. Unless you think an average of 700 yards is great.

and again, you still didn't address the actual point of my post. YOU CALLED OUT PEOPLE'S FANDOM for merely criticizing a guy that hasn't been a star. That's uncalled for and against the rules of the forum.

WHY DO YOU KEEP IGNORING THAT POINT? Why try and start a fight with people who simply disagree with you and insult them with the biggest insult you can make to a fan? It's bush league garbage that has no place on this board, especially after a game like today.

Big difference in who their QBs were in their respective rookie seasons.

Why are you including his rookie season in those averages? Rookie receivers tend to struggle and if you don't believe me on that just look at 2 of the best receivers in the game. Both Fitz and Megatron had under 800 yards as rookies and those are 2 of the absolute best. Floyd is a good receiver and sure he may be slightly underperforming his draft position, but he is far from a "wasted" pick or a bust like some seem to be proclaiming.

With all due respect the biggest issue Floyd had as a rookie was he didn't know the plays, didn't know the offense, couldn't read the defense, and half the time couldn't even line up correctly.

If Floyd's rookie year had been with Arians in his system my guess is he wouldn't have played nearly as much, Arians only plays rookies he can trust. And given that it took Fitz and Palmer more than a year to pick up Arians system can you imagine how long it would have taken Floyd?

My lasting memory of his rookie year was Kolb constantly moving him because he lined up on the wrong side of the field, and of Skelton getting benched because he didn't move Floyd and it led to a turnover.

Floyd has improved, I don't think he's ever going to be great, he makes great plays but he's inconsistent.

When he's 100% I think he'll make this offense even more explosive, but he's the 3rd best Wr on the roster right now.

because in the last five years, we've seen with rule changes that rookie WRs DON'T take long to develop. Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Odell Beckham, Keenan Allen, Mike Evans, Sammy Watkins, Calvin Benjamin. ALL of those guys... 8 of them, were drafted in the last three years, and ALL of them as rookies had 1000 yards (Watkins had 982). So if you want to look at where the league is NOW, with emphasis on O and making the game easier for WRs, when you look at a guy who was drafted 13th in the draft, his first year should absolutely be included when looking at his entire career.

Finto and Cheese, settle the crap down. Why on earth do users on this forum get into pissing matches when our team wins. Every damn time. What is wrong with you guys?? I just don't get the arguing. Its dumb and a waste of time. We won and we have an awesome team, with Floyd on it. Stop crying about it and enjoy the success we are having.

My big beef isn't even with Floyd's production... it's with someone questioning people's fandom on the board. You want to say someone's wrong about Floyd? Fine. That's an valid argument. But to question their fandom because they think he's been disappointing is not only garbage, but SPECIFICALLY against the rules of the board Shaggy.

8 players in the last 3 years have had 1K seasons as rookie WRs. Finito brought up Larry... I was just showing him that a great WR gets yards regardless of who's throwing to him, just like Larry did and just like the majority of those rookies did. Floyd hasn't. For a first round pick to be averaging 700 yards per game is pretty disappointing no matter how you slice it.

Floyd is fine, coming off a brutal injury. He's still young and is a good possession receiver.

And that's the point I'm making. Floyd isn't a "great" receiver, but that doesn't mean he isn't good and it certainly doesn't mean he was a "wasted" pick.

Floyd is a good WR. If the Cards decide to release him from his option, he'll likely be the #1 WR FA on the market next march, and get $20M or more guaranteed.

He's a big, physical WR in an offense that isn't a great fit for him anymore. He's still better than J.J. Nelson or Britton Golden or Jaron Brown. I think that he missed out on a ton of fine-tuning and reps during camp that he needed.

I am with Finito on this topic. The Floyd bashing is completely out of control. Been on this board for 13 years, and this is the dumbest thread yet. How quickly people forget how bad this franchise has been for generations. Studly real close at Floyd's non-rookie year numbers, as well as his blocking grades from the analytical sites before he gets labeled a wasted pick. We have had a plethora of truly wasted picks over the years. Michael Floyd is not one of them.
