at the very worst, they split those games. I don't think anyone can argue at this point that we're elite. Our Ws are against the dregs of the league and the only two remotely mediocre teams (which is even being nice considering the Steelers were down to their 3rd QB and the Rams aren't even .500) we played beat us.

truth is... we've had a CAKE schedule and come out of it 4-2. That ain't elite.

Yep anybody crying that we are in elite team needs to have their head examined! You can't ask for anything more than a weak schedule lined up to start the year and to go on the road back to back east coast games and play Pittsburgh with that limping secondary and no Ben Roethlisberger and yet we still managed to find ways to lose it. Even with Pittsburgh all the way down to their third string quarterback it's kind of comical really.

Hell at half time we had almost 300 yards of offense and were only up by four points what a joke. Pittsburgh only had 60 yards

That is just so Cardinalesque! Only to be topped by a 3rd string QB who had never taken a snap in the NFL, coming in and producing scores on ALL five drives he led!!
Seriously, we just wouldn't be the Cards if we couldn't produce this sort of putridness!!'

yup. I really thought these kind of crap-burgers were a thing of the past, but we've now been served TWO of them early in the season, in a season where we were supposed to be legit Super Bowl contenders. This team ain't close to that right now and to be honest, I don't know how they turn it around this season. Sure, the O isn't always going to stink in pressure situations (I hope!), but there's literally no way for this D to ever get consistent pressure on the QB. I mean, that was a freaking 3rd stringer, playing behind a banged up OL with two starters out and we never even touched him, and he looked outrageous against us. There's no answer for the lack of pass rush... and even our run D doesn't look anything close to what it's been the last two years.

this is a playoff pretender until proven otherwise.

I've consistently said this all year. The one glaring and HUGE issue this team has is the inability to get to the opposing QB. If we had a legit pass rush, Jones wouldn't have done what he did today. Our putrid pass rush puts WAY too much pressure on our pass defense.
There isn't a pass defender in the league who is bullet proof. Yet, we need our guys to be just that because we can't get to the QB.
We are talented enough on both sides of the ball to be a Super Bowl contender. Except for our non-existent pass rush. More than Bettcher's inability to make proper halftime adjustments... More than Palmer making I'll-advised throws in key moments... The inability to get to the QB will keep us from being a legit / elite team... [emoji35]

agree. you just can't give a QB ALL DAY to throw. Our secondary is good, but no secondary can cover forever.

the overall lack of speed in the front 7 is pretty galling. Rodgers would ROAST this D. Hell, Ryan would roast this D right now. I think any offense with a solid QB would simply because they've got all day to throw the ball.

This team is an anomaly..

Beats the ****ty teams can't beat the good ones.. Should have been a blow out in our favor and we make the Steelers 3rd stringer look like the 2nd coming of Dan Marino…

Defense can't hold and chokes..

Carson Palmer is not clutch in anyway shape or form…

SO DISAPPOINTING!

1-5 Ravens coming up.

I'll be "ravenous" for a W, so I don't care who's coming up, but I'll still think we're pretenders until we can beat anyone good. or at least MEDIOCRE.

I will start buying in that we are "elite" if we can beat some good teams. So far I've seen some flashes of brilliance from this team, but I've also seen some very unflattering play. Despite the horrid officiating, they should have really gave it to the Steelers today and they just out laid an egg.

I am concerned with our ability to protect Palmer. The game plan is out and teams know if they can get to Palmer, that pass game is going to be in trouble. Veldheer has NOT looked very good this season so far which is disappointing, and DJ Humphries wasn't good enough to start even though he was most likely drafted to start. Our pass rush is really non existent, we just cannot get to the QB and that is going to hurt.

You'll have to wait a bit. Next team we play with a winning record is Cincinnati on 11/22.

Exactly like the rams game. Dominate between the 20s, turn it over and fail to force any turns. Defense chokes late when there's still a shot.

Like...same effing game.

Still can't believe they kicked our ass with their 3rd string QB. Didn't even punt in the 2nd half, he led them to points every time. Our defense is not good.

I still can't believe they were starting the dog killer instead of Jones.

I'm more disappointed we let Jones pass all over us and generate drives. If it's me, with our corners, man I'm sending the house. I'm hitting him, I want to make him feel like it's the NFL. We did none of that. Didn't get in to his head at all. Let him sit back there in the pocket and survey the field. All 2nd half. They didn't even punt. No adjustment by Bettcher. None!!

Losing Todd Bowles hurts and it's showing. James Bettcher doesn't know how to scheme up exotic blitzes, so far all I've seen is plain vanilla blitzing and it doesn't happen as often as I'd like. He should have been sending the house on practically every call against the 3rd string QB but he let the QB get into a groove and gain some confidence. The lack of a pass rush has to be put on Steve Keim too, we've had this issue for years and it doesn't seem like the Cardinals have been too interested in addressing it in the draft. We've taken DJ Humpries, Kevin Minter, and Troy Niklas in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively, that hurts.

Welcome to overreaction week after a loss. This isn't college where you can just show up and win because of superior talent. If you have an off day in the NFL, on the road, you're likely going to lose.

It shouldn't surprise anyone the Cards came out flat. They are on the second week of a 2 week eastern time zone road trip where they spent the week at a resort.

The good thing is the Cards have pretty much beaten themselves and can play with anyone, regardless of the naysayers.

truth hurts huh

Im not discounting your opinion, but I don't buy it right now. Can you provide me with a mano y mano play calling breakdown of exactly what Tomlin did today that made him a better coach that Arians? Im honestly curious. I saw a BUNCH of plays left on the field. I would argue that Arians went away from the run after early indications were that we could ram it down their throats all day long, but thats a not a big surprise, ether. WHat else is there? I saw players cocky as all EFF early that folded when the pressure was on. This loss falls squarely on the players shoulders, with a side of Bettcher is out of his league.

Im pissed, too. But this forum is HILARIOUS after a loss. HI. LAR. EEEE. OUS.

Steelers (minus Ben) and Rams aren't good teams. Beating even worse teams like Seahawks and Chargers don't make them good.

Not had, they still have. They don't play an actual good team until mid-late November.

Bidwill must have pulled some favors cause the Cardinals have had the easiest schedule in the NFL this season.

The alarm is justified. You can do what we did today against bad teams and still win. But 4 turnovers? Giving the ball to a Brady or Rodgers an extra 4 times = beat down.
