If you aren't looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a personal trainer you should pickup a copy of the "Arnold Schwarzenegger Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding".
It is a great book for anyone wanting to learn how to weight train. It is written for both the beginner and the advanced. It includes highly detailed instructions for just about every possible weight training excercise as well as great photos and illustrations of each. It even includes many different diets depending on the type of muscle mass you are trying to build.
I purchased this book when I was a freshman in high school ('91) and I continue to refer back to it to this day when I am looking to switch up my training regimen.
