If you aren't looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a personal trainer you should pickup a copy of the "Arnold Schwarzenegger Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding".

It is a great book for anyone wanting to learn how to weight train. It is written for both the beginner and the advanced. It includes highly detailed instructions for just about every possible weight training excercise as well as great photos and illustrations of each. It even includes many different diets depending on the type of muscle mass you are trying to build.

I purchased this book when I was a freshman in high school ('91) and I continue to refer back to it to this day when I am looking to switch up my training regimen.

Russ ,I was just curious as to how the Kid is doing? I hope he's doing well & having fun!

There's a thread on the fitness group about it. He broke his left wrist in 2 a days when a 300 pound teammate rolled over on him. they held him out about 2 weeks while waiting for xrays to confirm the break, and then cleared him to resume practice. He started up the first week of school and immediately had more pain in the wrist, he toughed it out 3 days but when I last talked to him he was probably going to hang up the pads for the year to let the wrist heal. His doctor was saying he wanted to shut him down for 6 weeks, first game was Saturday, so he'd miss at least 6 games and then have to catch up with teammates.

I want him to stick it out but I do realize how hard it would be at 14 to stand on the sideline and watch your teammates when you're not allowed to participate except running for at least 6 weeks. He said he wasn't having fun because of the injury. I haven't talked to him since thursday so I'm not sure what decision he made they played Saturday but I don't think he would have been cleared to play.
