Those of you who are keeping track of the dwindling free agent bigs market, the Philly Sixers just signed center Calvin Booth.

This moves comes hours after they traded Steven Hunter for Reggie Evans.

------------------------

What does this mean? Pretty much nothing.

But just for the record on those keeping track of who Phoenix will sign if PJ doesn't make up his mind, your choices are down to:

-Mike Sweetney
-Brian Skinner
-Esteban Batista
-Michael Ruffin
-Vitaly Potopenko
-Alan Henderson
-Damir Markota

The first three are the only ones worth talking or considering about. Sweetney has average scoring and passing ability, Skinner is still only 31 and can be as aggressive as Kurt while rebounding well, and young Batista has also shown to be a decent rebounder who can run.

I'd take any of the top three. After that, you are better inserting Sean Marks for minutes or bringing back Pat Burke.

Look, I don't know how to break this to you, but it's Brown or no one, just as it has been all summer long. So yes, the Suns are screwed if anyone gets hurt, and no, they aren't going to do anything about it.

Get used to it.

Kerr has said that they're going to sign another big if PJ doesn't agree. They need one more player to hit the league minimum. I'm guessing that it'll be someone for the cheap-o youngster minimum, though.

Look, wise guy. You are completely wrong.

Kerr specifically said on numerous interviews and reports from AzCentral that: If Suns do not get an answer from PJ in the coming weeks, they will sign somebody and still leave the door open for PJ to come during the second half of the season.

Paul Coro's blogs on AzCentral validated these points and it is a fact that the Suns will sign somebody if PJ doesn't.

If this player player or not is not an issue. I am just proving you wrong. In fact, this new guy will get zero minites play time.

I am absolutely astonished by these 11,000-posters who come in here acting like wise guys - only to find out they have not done their research about the team.

Read the newspaper for once - u will find out how wrong your statement was.

Calvin Booth??? Quit it already

Quit what? This thread simply said Sixers signed Booth and it gives a list of players left for Phoenix.

Who said Booth is good for Phoenix? He stinks.

I would rather sign Muggsy Bogues out of retirement to play center for us then rely on Calvin Booth.

Again, who ever said Calvin Booth would be a good option for Phoenix? He is horrible.

So sick and tired of people not reading posts correctly.

if the suns dont get pj before the year starts, i imagine they will sign someone who can at least defend somewhat. even if it is someone to go in there for a few minutes a game and make guys like duncan earn their points on tough shots or at the line (pretty much duncan's only weakness) then that's what it will be. but then again, why would the suns go out and sign someone when they can have marks come off the bench and do that? only time will tell.

I feel for you man. Now I am not trying to sound like a jerk but unless its Webber or Brown signing with another team, no one is going to care and will continue to give you crap about it. I agree Booth isn't going to help PHI but you are correct the FA big man list is getting shorter.

Well, that is pretty much what Steve Kerr said about a week ago.

If PJ doesn't make a decision soon, they will sign some insignificant big. Probably won't get more than 5 minutes play time, but nonetheless a big.

Kerr said they will sign someone soon and will leave the door open for PJ if he changes his mind come playoff time.

I'm guessing they figured you are pimping the Suns to sign Booth because it wouldn't make sense to start a thread about a big man signing with another team and then criticizing the Suns in the same thread unless you think they should have signed him. Otherwise what's the point? Another team signed a guy that the Suns shouldn't have wanted...why bring it up?

In related news, the heat signed Smush Parker, and we have yet to find Nash's replacement.

It is PJ or nothing. The Suns obviously have to sign someone else to meet the NBA's minimum roster rule. If PJ doesn't sign though, they will sign someone who will NOT play any kind of role on this team, so yes, Eric was right. PJ, or no one. If PJ decides he wants to come on board later, you can say "see ya" to whoever it is the Suns sign to a non-guaranteed deal.

Do you eat contradictions for breakfast?

How is it PJ or no one when in fact they have to sign somebody to fill the league minimum roster regulation?

Are they signing an invalid ghost or something?

It doesn't matter if this guy is not going to play. In fact, he will get zero minutes. And will get waived once PJ comes on board.

Point being, if PJ doesn't sign, you cannot say no one. Somebody - yes a human being - will fill the roster spot and thus will make it a signing.

So yes, Suns will sign somebody soon - and it won't be PJ so deal with it!

I don't understand your logic in this one. Perhaps u can explain it better?

Do you really need me to explain this to you, or can you really not comprehend the point of the post?
