Sometimes things just don't work out.

After coming into the Oregon program as a highly-touted recruit, small forward Mookie Cook battled injuries and fought for playing time. Now he's leaving.

Cook has decided to enter the transfer portal and will look for a destination where he can see more consistent time on the floor. Unfortunately, that's not the case with the Ducks in Eugene.

When he committed to the Ducks, the 6-foot-6 small forward was a Top 40 player nationally and a Top 10 small forward. But Cook's college career got off to a rough start with a severe ankle injury that erased much of his freshman season. He appeared in just five games last season.

Although he was relatively healthy this season, Cook found himself on the bench a lot with the likes of TJ Bamba and Jadrian Tracey ahead of him. Head coach Dana Altman used Cook primarily as a defensive specialist in the 24 games he appeared in.

With Bamba and Cook heading out of the program, Altman will most likely look in the portal for a replacement for that small forward position.
