I know we don't have any money for this guy but man, Carolina pulled the tag.

They said a long term deal was unattainable so they just let him loose rather than make him play on the FT Tender.

#Jaguars, #49ers, #Browns have most cap room, per @spotrac if you're looking for a new Josh Norman home

Folks, #AZCardinals have about $6.5M in cap space. Josh Norman isn't happening.

There is risk to Josh Norman, of course. He wants $16M a year and is almost 29 years old. Long-term deal is a risk.

Wow.

Didn't see that coming.

Don't know why they didn't just keep him at this point for another year. It appears they budgeted the cap space (but maybe they had to cut someone they didn't want to in order to maybe sign their draft picks?).

He likely will not sign as big of a deal this year so late, which would alter the value of any compensatory pick.

Plus they are in contention for a Superbowl, so why not roll with him another year?

Shocking move. Unless I'm missing something.

Interesting. You do not see this very often. Someone is going to give this 29 year old a stupid contract or he will just sign somewhere to spite the Panthers.

wow... good news for us if he signs elsewhere, but man, it's really rare that the tag is pulled, especially this early in the off-season.

I don't see it either.

So this means we won't have the @RealPeterson21 vs. Josh Normal storyline when the #AZCardinals head to Carolina for NFCCG rematch Week 8.

Better lock up Powers before Carolina ups the price.

I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if the Cardinals told him "Look, we'll pay you X amount of dollars a year. Let us know when you're ready to sign." Carolina, if they wanna go after Powers, could mess that up. Powers doesn't seem to be getting much demand though so I could care less if he goes.

Agree, there really is no market for Powers. Cards will draft a CB and can give Powers a low one year deal before Training Camp if they really want him back.

Josh Norman wanted Peterson/Revis money. Panthers were willing to sign him to Byron Maxwell money (about $11M per year).

Amazing that $11-$14 mill is not enough for these guys, but if teams are willing to overpay then can't blame him

Obviously there is a major disagreement between the 2 sides or they wouldn't have pulled the tag!!! Buyer beware but I wouldn't touch him right now

Yeah, this doesn't smell right. He's too frigging good at a premier position, (at least IMO Shut Down CB is right there with LT and Pass rusher, all after QB of course) to just lose him for nothing and hamstring your defense for next season on top of it. A defense of a team that just played in the SUPER BOWL!!!

Weird.

Report: 49ers, Steelers, Dolphins among teams inquiring about Josh Norman

According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, eight or nine teams have already called about Norman. Teams interested include the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 49ers have over $52 million in salary cap space and could easily accommodate any salary for Norman. However, the Steelers only have $3.5 million in cap space and would have some work to do to bring Norman on board.

get CC's deal extended and we could do it if we wanted too....personally don't think the team wants to pay for two top five corners though....

On one of the NFL shows, they were saying that Carolina doesn't want to sink too much money into the secondary. Their philosophy is to put most of their money into the DL. They think Norman is a good player, but not elite - and that much of his high level play was a product of the system and the DL.
