Since Ratliff is out of the question ( probably never was in question), I have decided to just start throwing names out for you guys to debate.

With the acquistion of Martin, the Nuggets plan is to bring Camby off the bench and rotate Nene. Elson ( 7', 235) showed a lot of promise last year and is doing well in summer league. He played 3 seasons in Europe and is tough, athletic and has a good mid range jumper. I would take him over Mihm.

The Nuggets also need to make some room for Skita to get some minutes.

This may be fair

Jacobsen

for

Elson and a draft pick, 2nd rounder.

Then sign Jon Barry.

I would do this with or without Q, I think Barry would bring much needed experience off the bench.

Marcus Camby is the starting center for the Denver Nuggets. I'm not sure where you got that they will bring him off the bench. I think Elson would be a nice acquisition, but I don't see the Denver Nuggets trading him to us.

I live in Denver and hear it on the radio every day. They are also considering having a lineup on occasions of Camby,Nene,Martin,Melo,Miller on the floor at the same time. If you have any more questions about the Nuggets I can fill you in.

Kiki has got to make the pick of Skita pay off in either a trade or performance on the court, he would prefer to keep him than trade him and backup the reason he picked him before Nene and Amare.

Except that you keep promising you aren't going to post anymore...

So the Nuggets will trade Skita then, he is 7' as well.

why? we dont have to trade either...but if a good trade comes along he is our best trade commodity.

There is a need for a shooting guard. ESPN's David Alridge had mentioned that Jacobsen to Denver is a possibility.

exactly. A good GM won't make a trade just to make a trade.

Good point, Kiki is proving to be one of the best GM's in the league.

My thinking is that they are 2 deep at center Nene and Camby
2 deep at PF Martin and Skita

Elson is not going to get minutes.

they need a SG, could resign Barry or Leonard, Jacobsen could be a viable alternative and get significant minutes.

It is certainly true that Casey has been doing well in the summer league, but I'm not sure it is enough to make the Nuggets think he would be their starter. If they did think he could start in place of Lenard, then Kiki might do it. Otherwise, it is trading a big backup for a smaller backup which makes little sense.

The air is awfully thin in Colorado, isn't it?

All of Denver's main three bigs are PF types; Camby is the closest of them to a true center, and he weighs 230. The Nuggets' fourth big almost has to be a center, which is one reason they've been flashing Skita around the league, trying to find a team willing to take his contract.

Elson is a pretty good backup center, but not a potential starter. He's a poor man's Mark Blount--active but nothing special, and too old to be a prospect.

If the Suns want Elson, they can just wait a year or two until his contract expires. There's no way he'll get the MLE or anything like it, so whichever team shows up at Elson's house with the stupidest amount of money will win the day...

Skita may have height, but much like Zarko I don't think they quite fit the "size" catagory. They are 7ft perimeter players, they have a lot of work to do in the NBA.

Elson is an inside player, the kind the Suns need. I don't think they are going to trade him for a 2nd year SG.

One of the great mysteries of the NBA is why Kiki remains so high Skeets when everyone else including his own coach thinks he's a complete bust.

This is not the only team where there is a conflict between the GM who wants to push for a highly drafted player to get minutes and the coach who wants to win instead.
