I repeat, what are the 49ers doing? Their fans have already more or less given up on the season and are even starting to buy into the tank for Luck theory.

Some 49ers followers are comforting themselves with a morbid thought, hoping that the lack of activity could lead to another bad season and a shot at Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the 2012 draft. They've even started a Twitter hashtag campaign: #Suck4Luck. That's not a slogan you're going to see stenciled on the inside of a door at the 49ers' facility.
Harbaugh will have to be better than Bellichick for this team to do anything.

Saints signed NT Aubrayo Franklin to a one-year contract.

The rich get richer. Franklin's market was slow to develop for unknown reasons, but the 31-year-old adds a dominant early-down presence to a suddenly loaded New Orleans front seven. Pro Football Focus graded Franklin as the No. 2 run-stopping interior lineman in football last season, and he was the anchor for a 49ers defense that allowed the fewest yards per carry (3.46) in the NFC. We're red-flagging the Saints' defense for fantasy running back matchups.

49ers are letting go of average players....Franklin/Goldson/Lawson/Bass.

No person with any knowledge of football would consider Franklin average. He's a huge loss, guarantee you Willis is pissed.

Lose Spikes and Clements on top of that, Niners are making a strong push for the bottom.

Nate Clements.

Are the replacements on the roster?
Yes forgot about Nate.:)
49ers had already stated that Isaac Sopoaga will start at Nose Tackle.
Synder will be the center for 49ers (replaces Bass)
Williams will take over Goldson spot
and it will look like Terrell Brown will be the starting corner back of Shawntae Spencer.

Franklin only had one good year...came out of shape last year..certainly didn't play up to par last year..so was his one good year a fluke?

Good pick up for the Saints. That division is going to be so tough. NO, Atl and TB all have legitimate claims to the throne and Carolina is built to steal games with a QB like Newton who is more then capable of going off and winning games simply with a few big runs if nothing else.

Sopoaga is a serious downgrade from Franklin. Terrell Brown & Shawntae Spencer? LOL.

You're in serious denial. SF has to be tanking. They are virtually guaranteeing a last-place finish with their non-moves this offseason.

What have the Saints done this offseason?

-Addressed their pass-rush by drafting Cameron Jordan.
-Addressed their running game by drafting Mark Ingram.
-Strengthened their LB corps by drafting Martez Wilson.

-Addressed their run D by signing Aubreyo Franklin.
-Addressed their secondary by signing Fabian Washington.
-Kept one of the best Gs in the league, Carl Nicks.

Sounds like a pretty damn good offseason to me.

Nice analysis, but I'll rely on the guys who actually know what they're talking about.

Just wondering, who are your corners? A Rookie and some scrub?

Niners are 30 million under the cap and we are not looking to overpay AVERAGE players. We will build through the draft and sign only players deserving to be the signed.

We are not in panic mode like the Cards, who traded away their young #1 CB plus a 2nd rounder for a backup quarterback. We'll see what that gets you (last place in the NFC West again).

Wow, someone is projecting over their impressive group of free agent signings: Alex Smith, Ray McDonald, and David Akers. PFT says we still have like $23 mil in cap room, so we haven't been overpaying for anyone either, except the guy the front office believes is a franchise QB.

They added mark Ingram who will be a terrific NFL RB IMHO.

Franklin is still a very good run stopper so nice pickup for them.

I trust your scouting on QBs, but after J.J. Arrington and Marshawn Lynch, I think we should be careful about your estimations of running backs. :D

Lynch got too big, he was about 200 pounds as a freshman at Cal seems like he's been more like 220 in recent years I think they list him at 215 he looks bigger. Still that one TD run last year was pretty insane, ironically against the Saints.

I always said we drafted JJ one round too early, but yeah he was a disappointment.

Ingram is just one of those guys who everyone says is too small or too slow but he just always seems to get yards blocking or no blocking. I thought he was a steal.
