Barnett for sure. Not big sack numbers but he gets pressures....which over time will lead to sacks.
This funny cause he might be my least desirable on that list, lol.

If he can’t get sacks with Cox, Hargave, & Graham next to him, then ummmmmmm……

Soon to be 36 year old being our best 2nd(1st with the inevitable Watt injury) DL.

Good job, Steve. Truly elite at this.

What does his age have to do with how good he is? I guess the Rams must have carried Whitworth to the super bowl.

IDK why you've decided that age doesn't matter. Sure, for a few guys (Whitworth, Brady), age hasn't yet caught up with them. To say the vast majority of players hit the wall by their mid-thirties would be akin to saying pennies are worth less than 100 dollar bills; it would be a massive understatement. Almost all NFL players are done by then. Father time is undefeated. Every once in a great while you can roll with someone that old and get away with it. Rolling with a whole bunch of players that old, or thinking age doesn't matter, is just plain silly.

Except that's not what I said. I said what has age got to do with how good HE is. Not all players.

People here when a player crosses 31 think he's just garbage now. "Ertz is slow now. Keim trying to put the slowest team together". It's pure crap. Ertz speed hasn't altered. He would have had 900 yards over a whole season with us. With no preseason and dropping into a new scheme mid year.

What Calais's age is has no bearing on if he individually is still good. The Ravens, a much better defense than we are, want him back. He had an 80.8 PFF grade last season. Nobody think's he's not still a quality player. He has no injury history.

Seems the only players we can sign that the fan base are ever happy with need to be 25-28 years old. No injury history. Considered top 20 at their position but we get them for bottom 20 money. Literally anything else half the board complain about something.

I'm not going to pay Calais $10m at 36. But if he would come home for $6m that would be good value.

I'm not basing it on just this post. You have made a habit recently of claiming that age isn't an issue. As I said, exceptions can be made, but you don't want to building an aging and/or aged roster.

No, I said age isn't a blanket issue. As many on this board make it out to be. If players conformed to the fan theories on this board Brady would have retired at 38.

As soon as you pass 31/32 on here you automatically become slow, injury risk, over the hill etc.

Age is a factor in performance. If the performance is still there the age doesn't matter, as long as the contract is sensible. I wouldn't give AJ Green a 4 year deal for obvious reasons but a 1 year deal would be fine.

There are people here who would straight up sign a worse 28 year old over a better 32 year old just because of age.

Not automatically, but generally, yes. You've advocated for signing more than a few aged players, which is not a good trend and is rolling the dice when we've seen this strategy come up craps before.

Value for 1/2 a game or season is not value.

Not to mention every 33+ year old starting is one less position that is building for the future. If you’re contending those guys may be final pieces. If you’re not and you’ve got a couple they could be there for leadership or stabilization. But if you’re building a significant portion of your team with them you’re likely not going to have much continuity and are likely to have to hit the reset button too often for sustained success.
