Saint's freed up cap space by borrowing it from down the road and letting good players leave.

They let Armstead go, they currently have James Hurst at LT. They let Marcus Williams go and signed Daniel Sorensen. They have Jameis at QB. They have nothing at WR except Thomas.

And after losing quality players and restructuring a bunch of deals to free up $19m, most of which will be eaten by the rookie draft pool and the PS, they are now $33m over the cap next year already.

All they keep doing is borrowing from next year. Rince and repeat.

And Michael Thomas is only getting paid $19.25m when the top WR's are getting nearly $30m. And he wasn't happy before that.

The cap is real and Saint's are in a bad position. And what did they get for throwing all their money at making a SB run? Nothing.
and the Benson family can afford this model. Can the relatively poor Bidwill family?

I can't believe anyone is advocating for Will Fuller. Especially as some of those people complained about Green's durability or JJ Watts.

Will Fuller has never played a full season. Even ignoring last year where he missed all but 65 snaps he's averaged 10 games a season.

He's never had more than 879 yards.

I do not get the fascination with him at all. It's absolutely guaranteed he will miss 7-8 games. The only way I would have him on the roster is at vet min and as a situational depth player. I wouldn't count on him to start.
Ahhh! But think of the “Value”. I wouldn’t blast this move but I’d be looking at him as a #4 Wr. I can live with if’s and value when not being counted on to play a huge role.

Yeah. Fuller wouldn't be a replacement for A.J. Green -- he'd be competition for him and Antoine Wesley.

You cobble together enough of these pieces on the island of misfit toys, and you might have a makeshift WR room!

Exactly. This the “ if” factor. If we bring him here thinking he is our answer at wr2 it will be a recipe for disaster.

Nah, we're not making the "but the Bidwills are poor" excuses any longer. Money is never an excuse they get to use in the modern NFL. Because if yinz want to try to excuse the team because of money, we're back in the Dollar Bill era, and we clearly aren't.

Not an excuse when the numbers just don't add up. The Bidwills should sell the team because of this. NFL teams have figured out how to circumvent the cap.

It's not an excuse if you don't understand what rich team owners can do versus poor owners.

The Bensons are billionaires while the Bidwills are not. It's a crappy reality, but understanding that reality helps you not to emotionally cry out when the team isn't keeping up with the Joneses (literally and figuratively).

I understand just fine, and I also understand there are ways for the Bidwills to circumvent those cash-on-hand problems. If they choose not to because it will cut into their precious margin, then we're back to the Dollar Bill era. We as fans shouldn't be enabling them.

That's not always the case but it's mostly the case.

The players not fitting this category are mostly seeking money vastly outstripping their production. There are rare exceptions. One player that I can think of that was a massive bargain was Robert Woods. His first contract with the Rams was a massive bargain. Ther are a few players like him now and then...like Reddick last year.

Woods never passed 700 yards before the Rams signed him. It was about right when he signed for his production. He just took a step up in that scheme.

That's because the Bills QB situation was a dumpster fire. He was a good player who wasn't getting quality opportunities.

It's a different version of Dollar Bill. Sure the Cardinals give players free socks and T shirts and bought a plane, but can they push out $30 million to next years cap....and probably end up doing that next year as well? Naw....the Bidwills don't have that kind of money.

The best we can hope for is that Bill Jr. want's his coin and he wants to sell his stake in the team.

However, his siblings would have first right of refusal, no doubt, and would probably exercise it and thus further acerbate cash on hand issues. And this scenario presupposes that any of the siblings can individually sell, particularly to outside interests.

Nope, they don't get the excuse. They own an NFL franchise, and they're not using money as a reason to not try to compete. And none of this "Well, there's trying and then there's trying" nonsense. Just no.
Bidwill gets the same 250m + like every other team. Add concession, ticket sales, luxury boxes, parking, advertising and memorabilia. Poor Billy.

Nope just pointing out why they are doing it.

And none of these teams are doing what fans are advocating.
Huh? Raiders have gone hog wild this offseason and broncos acquired Wilson to go with the talent that already exists on the offensive side of the ball.
