Although the Cardinals have completed their shopping for big-ticket players in free agency, they haven't put away their checkbook for good yet.
Outside linebacker Keith Adams, a five-year veteran most recently with Philadelphia, visited Arizona last Friday. The Raiders reportedly also are interested in Adams.
His agent, Jordan Woy, doesn't expect any deal to be reached this week, he said via e-mail.
The Cardinals are interested in acquiring a weak-side linebacker to compete with Orlando Huff, who started last season.
Adams, 5 feet 11, 223 pounds, was mostly a special-teams player and spot starter during his first three years in Philadelphia. He started all 16 games last year, finishing with 101 tackles, including 12 in a loss to the Cardinals in December.
He was with Dallas one year before moving on to Philadelphia.
The Cardinals have signed two free agents from other teams this off-season: running back Edgerrin James from Indianapolis and guard Milford Brown from Houston. They have also re-signed quarterback Kurt Warner and guard Reggie Wells.
A double dose
The NFL has yet to announce the preseason schedule, but the Cardinals' two home games appear set.
The team announced Monday that it will open at home against Pittsburgh on Aug. 12. the Denver Post reported Tuesday that the Broncos will play in Arizona in the last preseason game, most likely Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.
Denver also plays at Cardinals Stadium during the regular season. The NFL plans to release the regular-season schedule in April.
The Cardinals also will play two preseason games on the road.
Those opponents have not been named.
