Free-agent checkbook remains open
Eagles linebacker Adams pays visit

Although the Cardinals have completed their shopping for big-ticket players in free agency, they haven't put away their checkbook for good yet.

Outside linebacker Keith Adams, a five-year veteran most recently with Philadelphia, visited Arizona last Friday. The Raiders reportedly also are interested in Adams.

His agent, Jordan Woy, doesn't expect any deal to be reached this week, he said via e-mail.

The Cardinals are interested in acquiring a weak-side linebacker to compete with Orlando Huff, who started last season.

Adams, 5 feet 11, 223 pounds, was mostly a special-teams player and spot starter during his first three years in Philadelphia. He started all 16 games last year, finishing with 101 tackles, including 12 in a loss to the Cardinals in December.

He was with Dallas one year before moving on to Philadelphia.

The Cardinals have signed two free agents from other teams this off-season: running back Edgerrin James from Indianapolis and guard Milford Brown from Houston. They have also re-signed quarterback Kurt Warner and guard Reggie Wells.

A double dose

The NFL has yet to announce the preseason schedule, but the Cardinals' two home games appear set.

The team announced Monday that it will open at home against Pittsburgh on Aug. 12. the Denver Post reported Tuesday that the Broncos will play in Arizona in the last preseason game, most likely Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.

Denver also plays at Cardinals Stadium during the regular season. The NFL plans to release the regular-season schedule in April.

The Cardinals also will play two preseason games on the road.

Those opponents have not been named.

Anyone see anything wrong with the bolded section? Thats pretty bad

Ugh, why do we always have to play the Broncos in the preseason?

It scares the living crap out of me to face those chop blocking ****'s in the preseason and lose a potential starter on defense.

Having a preseason game against a team that we play during the regular season makes no sense at all.

It's the final game where none of the starters play anyway... Doesn't make any difference.

And the stats for Adams is completely off.

He only had 7 Tackles against us and a total of 69 for the year.

I believe Clancy was no longer considered a true FA when we signed him - he was either considered no longer on the Giant roster or something like that, and technically considered to be in some sort of different category than FA.

If we sign this dude and Huff gets beat out by him, he needs to get slapped. Adams was a non factor on the field when he wasn't playing Special Teams. This town does NOT want him back. Or Dhani Jones for that matter.

It must be fun to phone (WIP) *610 and tell 'em you're a Cardinal fan from Philly. Those dudes don't like ANYBODY. (Ask the dude from the North Pole).

All 3 were UFA's.

Since the signing of James, this free agency period for the Cardinals has been pretty boring . . . yawn.

They brough in a CB who was overpriced and a special teams player.

ESPN is reporting a nationally televised pre-season game between Arizona and New England (at New England) on Aug. 19th, making the Cards pre-season schedule so far:

Aug. 12 Pittsburgh (afternoon kick-off)
Aug. 19 at New England (nationally televised)
Aug. 25/26 at ??
Aug. 31/1 Denver

Jeff, I have been hung up on so many times. There are only a few hosts who even take me seriously. That's cool though. Those losers'll get theirs soon enough.

So lets get back to the point of this thread.....who the heck are we targeting once this initial wave of free agency goes by...i gotta think that there are players on the OL, secondary, and LB who will provide cheap depth but have yet to be identified....

Well since we are the last ones to here about it and the Cardinals are not releasing any info on who they have been bringing in for visits as of late we will have not idea.

For example they brought in Keith Adams and Raonall Smith (both LB depth/special teamer aces) for a visit and we had no idea except for other states news papers bringing it up 2-3 days before our own paper talks about it.

Also heard today that we are still in negotiations with Kenny Wright over a contract, but the talks as of late have been slow as he is still trying to ask for way to much money this late in FA. He has only visited a few other teams after he visited us so his options are low. He may come to his senses or we may offer more at a later date. So he still seems to be in the mix.

Wow, I have never heard that tackles arent an official stat that is the oddest thing I have ever heard.

I just go off of the official stat keeper of the NFL, Stats Inc.

I don't think this has been discussed or if it's even worth it, but what about signing Seneca Wallace as our backup QB? I thought he had shown enough to be worthy of a look. I know he's a RFA, and he has enough expirience to be at least a good back up. Just thinking out loud I guess.

He has like 25 attempts in 3 years in a real game. Is that really showing enough to be worthy of a look for a 4th round draft choice. He is 5-11 195 lbs to boot. Not a guy we should be looking at IMO. I like your outside the box thought process though.
