Josh Freeman was released. He isn't good right now, but is Ryan Lindley still the #3 QB? Can we put Freeman in that position just because?

Hmmm.

I'm gonna say no because he will want more than the Cards can afford against the CAP.

I would offer him a two year deal and let him learn the offense this year and compete next year. At least he can game plan aginst a moble QB.

Sorry, but getting someone else's cast-offs is not my idea of how to run a football team. Looks like the Cards aren't the only ones who can screw up a draft by taking the wrong QB.

You mean like Carson Palmer or Kurt Warner?

You can compare Freeman to Warner or Palmer if you want to, but I certainly don't believe he is anywhere near that talent level. A 59.3 QB rating isn't what I would call talented. He is another Lienart in the making.

I guess you didn't mean "someone else's castoffs."

And Freeman would be no risk at all. He had a decent couple of seasons, threw for 27 tds last year and 80 in his career. Tell me about Leinart again? How many years did people want to give him the benefit of the doubt?

Note: how many tds did Palmer throw last year?

I thought part of the issue with Freeman was he reacted so poorly to being demoted?

If he was so great, why didn't the Bucs keep him? Yes I did mean someone else's cast-off as that is what he is. Instead of looking at the individual himself, you muddy the waters by throwing other players into the mix. That's silly. It is what it is. If he was worthwhile, he would still be on the Bucs.

This is just the "grass is greener" mentality a lot of Cardinal fans seem to be inflicted with.

Why are you getting so upset? I am the one who brought up Freeman's numbers. You are the one who discussed men and other Card fans.

I really have no idea why anyone would prefer Ryan Lindley.

You didn't mean someone else's castoff, because both Warner and Palmer were castoffs, and you classified Freeman differently ;)

I'm not upset Mulli. I just find it silly that every time ANY player is released, someone on here decides he is the answer to all our problems. A good QB that could actually help our team is not going to get released.

Besides, after all the time wasted on Lienart and other QB's we have tried, I think we need to concentrate on our two main QB's and train our own. According to some on here, the draft is pretty deep in QB's next year. I would rather see BASK go after someone who will fit their system.

Answer the question. Is Lindley better?

Freeman had better numbers than Palmer did last year.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/12473/year/2012/josh-freeman

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/4459/year/2012/carson-palmer

At least comparable. Not bad for a #3.

I could care less. The 3rd QB should never see the field. If they do you are screwed anyway. Freeman amazingly has been to a PB and isnt taking a 3rd string contract! Furthermore did I mention that he sucks?

Now, I am upset. Where did you get that from?

(not really upset)

If the Cardinals' QB guru(s) could coach him up that would be awesomesauce!

100% sign Freeman!

He has proven he can play QB in this league physically with 27 and 25 TD's in a season. His issue is between the ears...can't think of too many better people to coach up a QB than Arians.

He is a risk...no doubt. But he is a very talented kid that may just need a fresh start.

I consider it to be like a stock...buy low in the hopes of hitting it big.

You have to take chances if you want to win.

Before Greg Schiano started backing the bus over him Freeman was viewed as an up and coming player. I know its cliche to blame the coach for a QBs legitimate problems but Schiano rather plainly made things personal with Freeman. Freeman might be an immature doofus who cant help but turn the ball over, but I'd like to see what he could do with a coaching staff who does not seem to be deliberately undermining his confidence.

When Freeman was playing well he looked a helluva lot like Big Ben, minus the rape. For pittance of a free agent contract? I'd love to roll the dice on that.

Seems like a no brainer for a 3rd QB spot.
