Before Greg Schiano started backing the bus over him Freeman was viewed as an up and coming player. I know its cliche to blame the coach for a QBs legitimate problems but Schiano rather plainly made things personal with Freeman. Freeman might be an immature doofus who cant help but turn the ball over, but I'd like to see what he could do with a coaching staff who does not seem to be deliberately undermining his confidence.

When Freeman was playing well he looked a helluva lot like Big Ben, minus the rape. For pittance of a free agent contract? I'd love to roll the dice on that.

Me too.

But, believe that he's going to have much better options in short order.

as QB3? Of course! Nobody can make a good argument with a sane mind why you would NOT do this if it could be had.

However, 99.9% likely it couldn't be had.

It's becoming more and more apparant that Schiano is kind of a jerk.

I'd have to look into his personal problems before advocate bringing him here. That being said I would think he would be better than Lindley and at his best would be better than Stanton.

He's young, mobile, and had some success.

Better than Stanton? Ooh, now you have done it. I agree somewhat, but now we might be banned or something.

Freeman

Concerns:

1. Like it or not, we'd be part of a bidding war in one form or another and would have to pay a multiple of Lindley-money.

2. So-called "intangibles" - Whether it had to do with morale, bad chemistry with Schiano or character-problems, the buzz was that Freeman had problems in the work-ethic dept. We went thru that with Matty L. Do we really want to repeat the same mistake?

Pluses:

1. It would be nice to have a mobile QB with starting experience as a backup; especially with our O-line. (Note - Do we really need 3 QB's who can start? I'm a depth guy. If we can afford it, no problem).

2. Freeman has already demonstrated that, under the right conditions, he's got game. Maybe it's just a matter of BA and Tom M. re-creating those right conditions.

Interesting and worth considering.

Yes, Freeman is better than Lindley. However, I doubt he goes to any team as a #3 QB. I think he ends up in GB or SF backing up Rodgers or Kaepernick.

I guess the question is, does he have to clear waivers? Because Jacksonville or Minnesota might snag him if so. Rumors last said he had his eye on Minnesota if he was released.

Count the release of Josh Freeman as the least surprising development of the week. He's vested, so no waivers. Immediately becomes a UFA.

I think he ends up a Viking

I would absolutely think he is better than Stanton. Shane is correct he sucks right now but he didn't suck a year ago.

Josh Freeman was released. He isn't good right now, but is Ryan Lindley still the #3 QB? Can we put Freeman in that position just because?

+1

He is only 25 years old, and can play at this level. I am all for bringing Freeman in.

It is not like we have the answer at QB. If you can bring the guy in on a do nothing contract then I say the Cardinals do it.

If Freeman is looking to start, and for a starters salary ? No way, absolutely no way.

I'm not upset Mulli. I just find it silly that every time ANY player is released, someone on here decides he is the answer to all our problems. A good QB that could actually help our team is not going to get released.

In most cases I would say you are right.

In this case, I believe this is a player that could potentially help. But only under the right conditions, and those conditions have about a 2% chance of happening, and even that number is a stretch.

Freeman is living up to his name. He is now a free man.
