According to Score in Chicago, when the bears coaches graded out the films they credit Urlacher with 25 tackles, 2 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble.

25 tackles!!!

Thats an inflated number. He did not make 25 tackles in that game. I could see the 18 or 19 tackles, but 25 is really stretching it.

During his post game interview on the field he said it was easy being he was hardly blocked at all.

Interesting...please continue.

Hayes was the best MLB on the field that night.

:D

I actually love Hayes but urlacher was unreal. Sure we made it easy on him but still he just kept nailing Edge over and over.

The amazing part , whether its 19 or 25 is the fact that we ran at him that many times. We are kinda stupid.

Agreed. There is no way that he does not win DPOW.

Urlacher did blow that coverage on Obiwan Ihaveabanjo on that last Cards drive...he even admitted to "guessing wrong"...whatever the hell that means.

If Eric Green's hands worked he would have DPOW. Dropped 2 picks in the game and had all those big hits.

Remember last year Green couldn't tackle at all? Now this year he seems to have decided to just hit them as hard as he can and hope they go down or drop the ball, seems to be working.

the Sun-Times has a picture of Ulacher pushing Obiwan Kenobi out of bounds....Then the article talks about how great 54 is. Doesn't mention how many yards Obiwan got.

I also seem to recall Urlacher missing Q on the touchdown.

Thats what I thought as well. 19 total tackles. 25 total plays if you add up everything.

This is the Bears staff, not what NFL.com says. I'm not saying it's NOT inflated, that's why tackles are an unofficial stat, some teams were notorious for inflating stats on tackles.

Maybe someone can correct me, but I believe at New Mexico he played safety, receiver, and kick returner.

It is scary to see someone like that move into a dominant NFL linebacker position.

Actually, he didn't really miss on Q, he had a bad angle and more important Q just blew past him (which was the bigger issue). Besides, missed tackles happen (Bears were tackling horribly early in the game) but on that one, it was more Q than Urlacher missing. JMHO.

You are right. Ulacher didn't have a chance to get him really. :)

I know what you're saying. Tackles is one of those things that can be inflated, becaus you can give out assisted tackles to just about anyone.

Some teams are more notorious than others in doing it.....

We could have had him, instead of Thomas Jones.

We need some sort of man law making it against the rules to point that out.

:bang:

Of course at the time I was ok with Jones, who knew a converted safety from New Mexico was that good. To be fair, his rookie year they were playing him at OLB and he was really struggling, it was only when they moved him to MLB that he took off. Knowing us we'd have played him at OLB.
