The Auburn RB's are rolling, other good RB's came into this league and made big yardage from day one. You hand the ball off to the RB and in a second he has to make decision based purely on instinct. There is only so much he can learn and if he is going to learn it at all he will know what he needs to know after a few games. How many great RB's can anyone name that became great several years after coming into the league. Earl Campbell did not need not a stinking OL to make 3 yards. He could carry the DL on his back. Try to stop John Riggins on the 2 yard line. Tomlinson is a sure fire TD inside the three. Barry Sanders was going to make yardage even behind our OL. I do not know what the deal with JJ is but at the moment he does not look very good. In fact he looks auful. I hope for the best but I would not put any money on it.
JJ has 24 carries for 41 yards in 4 games, no fumbles, longest run is 13 yards.
After his first 24 carries Ronnie Brown had 66 yards rushing and no fumbles. If you take away the big loss on the botched reverse to Fitz, JJ is 12 yards behind Brown after 24 carries.
The primary difference is JJ did this in 4 games, Brown reached 24 carries in one game plus 2 carries in game 2 against the Jets. Do I think Brown is better than JJ of course I do, that's why he was picked 2nd and JJ 44th.
As to being unstoppable from the 3 etc. JJ has one carry in the redzone, and 0 inside the 5 yard line, so you can't really fault him for failing at that since he's never had the chance to do it
