He probably wouldn't, but he's a high character type guy who stresses schoolwork and basically not being an ******* to his kids, so it seems he'd fit the Bidwill's m.o. as far as 'character guys' goes. Would it actually help? I dunno.

There's been rumors about Saban coaching the Bears next year.

I wonder if a Mac/Martz combo is back in the works this offseason for Chicago. You never know. Almost happened last time.

Don't get me wrong...I think he is a fantastic coach and his track record proves it. I know the LSU faithful hasn't embraced him as much because they firmly believe he is using LSU as a springboard to the NFL but he has a great gig down there.

The big problem in discussing a potential coaching change is to also view what other teams will be looking for coaches next year. CHI, NYJ are two off the top of my head who may be looking for a new coach...maybe even ATL (although the Vick thing maybe buys Reeves a get out of jail free card). If Graves can't sell Colvin et al on the Cards, how is he going to sell a HC on his plan?

Can't, unless they hit him over the head with a checkbook.

I live in B.R. and the way things are going down here i don't see him leaving the Tigers anytime soon....Not only could he bring titles here but he makes over 2 million a year and has a winning program.....Just seems alot to give up for the futility that the cards have to offer....He just seems to smart of a man to know what he would be getting into if he went to Arizona.....

IF Mac gets fired, then I'll say what I said last time.

Hire the best African-American coach you can get. No, I'm NOT an affirmative action guy, or a racist. I think it'd be best for this team. We have precious little to sell players on coming here. But, an African-American GM with someone like Dennis Green, Ray Rhodes or Ted Cottrell as coach, don't you think that'd give us a little more of a listen from African-American free agents? I think it would, and we need every edge we can get.

I agree. I don't think he'd leave anytime soon. He just seems to fit Bidwill's mold.

Does money have the same meaning to a coach as it does a player? I guess what I mean is, we hear how players make the cash grab because of the lack of playing longevity but with coaches...well there is almost always a job available to them. I think coaches become more particular about the jobs they take...not relying as heavily on money.

Johnson won't come here...neither will Green. They won't get the power they need/desire.

I doubt the Cards could beat the Huskers right now so maybe they should hire Solich.

I disagree- I coach college football with one of Denny Green's assistant coaches(sorry, cannot give names) and he is close to Denny and thru our conversations he has mentioned that Denny really wants to get back to coaching. Obviously, SF is his number 1 choice and since Dennis Erickson has been set up to fail there that may be his final destination, however, Denny has got the itch and I think that Graves and Denny are a good match.....all I am saying is don't be surprised.

I cannot see Green coming here unles Graves gives up power.

Rhodes...undecided on him as a HC.

Cottrell...know little about his qualifications as it relates to being a HC.

Using your criteria, my first call would be Art Shell.

Yeh one thing about Nick Saban is that he's a perfectionist.....If you ever watch L.S.U. games they could be up by 35 in the 4th quarter and he's still coaching and will not tolerate mistakes and sloppy as long as time is on the clock....He is slowly turning around the Tiger program and could do the same in Arizona I just dont think Saban would settle for anything less than complete comtrol of player personnel and such

I agree. Especially when you start to talk about guys like the Stoops brothers et. al.

Just throwing **** out there and seeing if it sticks. Kinda like the soft zone, three and four man rush today.

But will Green come back with no personnel power? That is the issue...not his desire to coach again.

The thing about Green is, can Bidwill overlook the black marks on Green's character?

I'm not sure he could, but I think Green would be the fastest way for this team to make the playoffs.

I wonder how the Stoops would do at the pro level. I never thought Spurrier would succeed here and while the jury is still out, he seems to be getting more out of his guys this year.

Bill had priorities and the way I see it cash is a much bigger priority for Billy boy at this point. Have you noticed the empty stadium over the past few years? Well, it's going to look like hell when that new dome opens and it's empty too!

Green is a winner, he will sell tickets and so will his teams!

I don't think he would here is what I am saying. Graves has a couple years here of backing from the Bidwills where he has complete power. He may take input but he and he alone is the decision maker and I cannot see a change off that in the near term.

AJ: If the Bidwills don't allow for the players to have off-field issues, I cannot fathom them allowing a coach (especially HC) to have any.

I'd love to see Green here, I would. (Actually, I'd prefer that we go on a 12 game win streak and Mac get extended.) But I think what happened with Buddy Ryan would mean no Dennis Green.

to be so consistently bad since Mac took over in the following extremely important areas:

1. Turnovers
2. fewest sacks in the league

I would like to see if it is true or not - but since mac took over as coach - it is entirely possible that we were last in the league in sacks on the day he took over from tobin - and we have been in last place every single day since. We have 2 first round picks and a 2nd round pick on the field most of the time (bryant, pace and russell davis). Bell and dennis johnson were also 3rd or 4th round picks. Pace was a reach - so call him a 2nd round pick. Bryant would have been taken shortly after we drafted him. It is almost impossible to consistently be this wrong on evaluating defensive line talent. When we cut a guy who ends up being very good (darwin walker) - something is wrong. Heck...look at the starting defensive lines in the league - alot of teams are manned by overachieving, marginal athletes that were taken in the mid rounds. It is not possible that every defensive lineman we have had here over the past 2 1/2 years is that awful. My conclusion - coaching. Scheming and technique are equally awful.

On turnovers....players are doing it - but to be so bad at it for so long - coaching again...

I thought the coaching staff coached one good game this season and three awful ones.

Mac's rah-rah ******** makes my ass tired and it's time for him to go. He's accomplished nothing in the time he's been the head coach and he is not free of responsibilty for picking the players. We needed WR's there's no doubt about that, but we've needed a DL for about 10 years and they did nothing to address it. Where's the guy they just picked up? Was he even in the game? Bryannt was everyone's concensus pick and now he seems to have gone to hell as well. Someone is reposnsible and I think the sooner they dump Mac the better. Dennis Green would be a good choice but seems too much in the "Pittman" mold to suit ownership. Bidwill can't get out there and play. I refuse to believe they don't want to win. Their track record on coaches has been dreadful and recognizing another bad choice wouldn't be that hard of a pill to swallow.

Just take a look at this silly comment:

"There's no way you're going to have a successful game against that offense or any offense playing that kind of defense," Cardinals coach Dave McGinnis said. "They converted third downs at will. We blitzed, they converted. We covered, they converted."

Well who's fault is that?

Design plays that disguise the blitz? Change the signals so the Rams won't know when the blitz is coming?
