Fair enough. I knew the sentence could be confusing.

Whisenhunt asked us for patience, yet benched Anderson after 3 and a half games. Do you think that Whisenhunt was patient with Anderson? Furthermore, if he wasn't patience with Anderson, how can he expect us to be patient in return?

Ok.

He asked the fans to be patience with him and his team. And thanks us for our support.

Yes, you are correct he yanked Derek Anderson out of the game quickly, and only after 3.5 games.

But, the boards, media, fans, and even people in the jungles of ZIMBAMWUE are saying Anderson is the worst QB on earth, heck some are blaming Anderson for cancer, and new aged politics.

So, Whiz benches the guy who has been playing horrible, and the guy some many people wanted to see bench.

He then thanks the fans for support, and asks for patience while he tries to fix the huge problems he has (or he would not have said this in the first place).

And he is still wrong, and hypocritical ?

So if he keeps Anderson in, he is wrong If he pulls him he is wrong. If he does things and do not admit he made a mistake he is arrogant. But he is just as much put into blame if he admits his mistake.

While were at it, lets push Whiz in the pool and then yell at him for being wet.

Exactly my point. Leinart would be doing better than Scud. No question about it. Therefore, wrong decision. Anyone that thinks that Scud is doing better than Leinart would have, is...well, I don't know what they are. No words to describe.

Ok, Riddle me this.

What if Leinart did stay with the team, and DID play worse ?

Then instead of turning to Max Hall right now, we would be turning to Derek Anderson.

Instead of being 2-2 and knowing we don't have a QB on the roster that is not a rookie, we would be JUST STARTING to enter the Derek Anderson era.

So, what about that scenario ?

Since we are playing woulda coulda shoulda. I am saying, WHAT IF Leinart didn't play as well as the majority KNOWS, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, he would play.

If you can say he would be better, I can say he would have been worse.

Excellent point. At least, when DA went in & stunk it up, we could go back to mediocre Matt if needed.

I am not saying he'd be lighting it up out there, fwiw. I'm just saying he'd be better than Scud. NOTHING he has done in any of his career has been even close to as consistently bad as Scuderrific. Of course, I can't say Matt would have been better for a fact--it's all just opinion. I just don't see how you can substantiate your claim that Matt would have been worse. He hasn't been worse. He's a better player.

If Leinart played the Rams in the 1st week, I just can't see him finishing the game and throwing that winning TD. Way too many hits that Leinart seems to be very unconfortable with.

With Leinart in the game, the rest of the variables need to be changed too.

Leinart has driven down the field at the end of games during his rookie year. He's done it before. Notably the Monday Night Meltdown.

I dont disgaree.

I really wish I knew what happened with all this leading up to the decision not go after a QB int he offseason to start.

There is no way Whiz thought Leinart was going to be the starter come opening day-I just dont believe it. I smell some mandates from the front office.

Earlier in the post you said that you believed that front office forced Whiz to keep Leinart and that he even had a "sigh of relief" when Leinart was injured three years ago...

do you have some inside information or is this all speculation based on your superior skills of deduction?

Yes I remember that game...Man still can't believe we lost. I thought we had the next Payton Manning with his play calling change signals and all...

Anyhow, it just doesn't seem he fits Whis' offense/game plan. I think I saw some posts or comments that Whis was giving him a play that won't make him succeed (something like that). Not sure if Whis just didn't like the guy personally or professionally as a player/ability.

He's looking for another Kurt Warner to sling the ball everywhere. He thought Anderson could be that guy and judged that one COMPLETELY wrong. So much so, it makes you start to wonder....

+1.

You make a great point at pointing out the Bears game. But, I always point out the Vikings game Leinart had in his rookie year.

He WAS slinging the ball around. Hit Boldin deep, and had some really nice tight, accurate throws. He commanded the huddle, had swagger, and was producing, we can win no matter what, vibe.

Where did that guy go ? Did Whiz kill him ? Maybe, but if that is the case then I don't think the Leinart we saw under Whiz is going to fix anything.

Whiz is the coach, and Leinart has to fit to his system. If we really want to turn back the clock, we can have the rookie Leinart, but we would have to give back the Warner/Whiz/Superbowl years, IMO.

I point out the Bears game because even after all the bad stuff that happened, (Bears taking the lead with just a couple minutes to go) Leinart was cool, and calm and brought the team into make-able FG range only to have Rackers miss.

Not sure if he killed him, or 'isn't his guy' or what. I agree that Leinart has to fit his system. Either:

A) Whisenhunt doesn't know what he wants in his QB or
B) He isn't a good judge of a QB's talents

I guess there is a possibility of

C) Warner WAS the system. I had thought that the winning had more to do with the culture change than Warner, but seeing this horrible QB play and completely uninspired defense, I'm starting to change my mind.

If that is is the case then how does Whiz, and his rookie QB win the SuperBowl in Pittsburg ?

The QB and OL are horrible talent wise, and remember the defense is young and has a lack of talent at key positions.

The defense was my biggest kool aid moment this offseason and the beginning of the year.

If you take a look at that defensive roster.... you should not be surprised that we are getting run over. Losing Hayes is a killer, Watson not stepping up, and Robinson having to play is devastating. Calias Campbell regressing is the straw that breaks the camels back. Can't say anything about the OLB'er cause they were horrible last year, and are horrible this year.

The won IN SPITE of his rookie QB that year because his defense was dominant and they leaned on their RB's.

'Roethlisberger finished the game having completed just 9 of 21 passes for 123 yards and having also thrown two interceptions; his 22.6 quarterback rating was the lowest ever of any by a Super Bowl winning quarterback.'

^What people seem to forget is that Big Ben threw 7TDs in the playoffs before the super bowl.

Fair enough.

I would like to know what is deemed exceptable expectations sooner or later.

15-1 and a Superbowl win is pretty good, IMO. He did it wth a rookie QB. Ben still had to play, he still had to execute, and still had to win games.

I just don't get it.

What does everyone around here expect ? Seriously, what are the expectations ?

19-0, a Superbowl win, with a QB with a perfect rating, 90% completion rate, and to beat every team by 52 points ?

Anything short of that and we are the worse team in the world ?

I am not trying to be a jerk here, just wondering what the expectations are that whomever is the coach of the Arizona Cardinals is supposed to be judged on.

In my opinion, it is pointless to debate who would be better since we just can't know. Regardless, I think it is clear that, even back in February, Whiz knew Leinart wasn't his guy. And, if that was the case, the organization should have gotten someone in here better than DA.

I am really not happy with his comments about the QB situation. It's not a laughing matter coach. And, these comments can't be helping anyone, espcially if, according to some pundits, all DA needs is some more confidence.

people always say this while completely ignoring that Big Ben lit up the entire AFC with EVERY GAME on the road in the playoffs. Yeah, he was ATROCIOUS in the Super Bowl, but dude was freaking MONEY in the 3 playoff games before that.

I know you weren't addressing me, but you are listing outstanding stats as your line of what you wonder people's expectations are. I think pretty much everyone here would be happy with average, mediocre, middle of the pack, etc. Not looking for outstanding. Looking for something above sewer waste, though.

Your telling me you cant see that Whiz wasnt fond of Leinart...really?

Your telling me that Leinart did everything in his power to win this job but Whiz just didnt give it to him, well, b/c, he just didnt?

You couldnt see the writing on the wall when Matt was named the starter in 07 only to be sidelined by Whiz inserting Warner into the game to run the '2 minute drill"

You didnt see anythign odd about Leinarts injury placing him on IR for the whole year when he could have come back by week 12? Even ML questioned that.

It isnt superior deduction "Matty Boy"...just have to pay attention.

Exactly. I've said it before if the Cards were 2-2 and had lost to Atlanta and SD on the road say 28-17 and 24-14 and we could see that the played well the board wouldn't be in such an uproar. In fact I'd think that while we wouldn't be happy with the losses we'd be happy with our situation in the division.

Rugby you just can't ignore the elephant in the room: 41-7 and 41-10.

It is funny you mention this becuase from a coaches perspective, they just dont give a damn about a final score. A loss is a loss and a win is a win. whether it is 6-3 or 56-3.

Usually when the loss is so lopsided, the coaches look inward and try to find scheme chnages they failed to make or 'dumb down' some of the play calling to keep the players focused.

I'll bet they start to care after oh say the 5th or 6th lopsided one and the owner stops returning their phone calls.

Yeah that's crap a win is a win but every loss in blowout fashion is much worse than a competitive loss. We got bitch slapped twice in four games your delusional if you think that doesn't affect the team and fans negatively!

To be fair though the coaches don't have time to let a lopsided loss affect them. They also don't get to enjoy wins unless it is the SuperBowl. That sucks but then they get to be rich and famous to make up for it.

But again, too many one sided losses and you get your contract bought out by somebody richer if not as famous.

I can only tell you what coaches have always told me. They place a loss squarly on their own shoulders. They dont care if it is a blowout or not, they just lost!
